Check Engine light/sensor trouble?

Yesterday I drove my Rx8 to a friends house and my car drove fine. I left their house and once i turned on my car i noticed the Check Engine light came on. Well my car drove fine and made it home safely so i just figured it came on by mistake. Well this morning when i left for work i noticted the light came on once again and this time i notice when i drove a couple feet my radio came on and off out of no where. Once that happened i noticed the "reckless", "ABS", "E Break" light indicators came on and off.

Could this be a sensor problem or something else? And is this going to be something i have to take to the rip offs at the dealership???

Your car is definately not happy for some reason. Give us a bit more history for the car focusing on the last few weeks.

A good starting point will be to go to the local Auto Parts store (Autozone, Advanced or the like) and ask them to use their scan tool. Most will let you use it, or run the codes for you. If the first one doesn't go find one that will. The FAQ thread has a listing of all the CEL's you are likily to see. Check the code and let us know what they are.

Doesn't seem like a sensor problem because the CEL's that you are refrencing come for multiple sensors.

Well so far nothing has been going on wrong with my car within the last weeks. My oil change light came on last Friday but other than that nothing else has been going wrong with it.

Last month though I did have to take it to the dealership because i flooded my valves. They of course found other issues such as my battery being low and that I also needed to change my spark plus. I almost was going to pay them the full 780 for the repairs but something told me that something was up so i told them i would do everything myself and they told me that my car wouldn't turn on then if they couldnt fix the issues then and there...well nevertheless the car "magically" turned on and it was running fine and still is concederning that the check engine light came on yesterday.

j-RO, that "oil change light" is not to notify you that you need to change the oil. It's telling you that your are dangerously low and need to add oil ASAP. Be sure to check and top off your oil at least every couple fill ups. Rotaries low on oil are a ticking time bomb.

What valves did you flood? There are a couple of valves in the intake track that can get oil build up, but as far as the engine goes, you don't have valves like a piston engine.

That being said, do as solidtrance has recommended and have the codes read. We can help diagnose from there.
