So I am about to put a Catless MAM midpipe on my P5 and was wondering the advantages and disadvantages of having a catless midpipe, obviously there is going to be better exhaust flow with a catless but anything else? I have OBX headers and a mazdaspeed axleback right now. My car also seems to be running super rich right now and I am getting some blowby I think, or burning oil... don't know(shrug). So your advice and tips would be much appreciated. Thanks

dude you will love that mam catless pipe...it will make your exhaust MUCH louder (but it will still sound great) and it was the best part i put on my exhaust (gave noticable hp)

I have a 4-2-1 header, test pipe, and mazdaspeed axel back with no cats... Too loud...

i have tsudo headers mam hiflow catted midpipe with greddy catback (2 resonators) and hks axleback.... sounds like a really loud rsx, i dont really like it. it would probably be better if i had a good catback with a nice muffler, something like the racingbeat catback.

Its not that loud...I get complements all the time
mazdaspeed axleback and msp axleback are different. the mazdaspeed (assuming he's talking about the p5 accessory axleback) doesnt muffle as much as the msp one does, i was actually thinking of trading my hks for a mazdaspeed protege axleback to see if it would make it sound better.

mazdaspeed axleback is made by borla?
msp is racingbeat.

Yeah thats my bad. When he said Mazdaspeed I automatically thought the MSP one.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes I have the Mazdaspeed axleback for the P5 not the stock racing beat MSP axleback. The mazdaspeed axleback is made by mazdaspeed, just like STI parts for suby's.

So does anyone have any complaints or problems with the catless midpipe other than sound?? I was talking about more performance issues?

If you got catless, you are no longer in STS. In fact, you shouldn't be in STS cause you have ported and polished your intack.

I "brushed it off" like you said in my Protege Garage thread. That thread has since been closed by the vendor. They do seem like good people. It's nice to know that the good outway the evil on these forums. Good looking out bro...latz

i've got a Genie 4-2-1 with a magnaflow Hi-flow cat on the mid-pipe and then straight back to the mazdaspeed axle-back, plus i had the resonator removed as well and i love the way it sounds, listen to this

Sounds good pn. Mine is really loud and drones on the freeway. I hate it already.

Sweet, sounds great. Yah I am hopeing the catless midpipe will give it more of a deaper groul as aposed a to a rice wine

That's my biggest concern because I too have the Mazdaspeed axel-back and with my plan of getting headers (still undecided on which one), I wanted to get a midpipe down the road and at first was going to go with the higher flowing catted midpipe from some place like Protege Garage because of noise level and emissions. But if the catless midpipe doesn't sound like a tin can Honda, then maybe I'll go that route. Sorry for the long post guys.

I read a couple months ago in Tuner or some performance mag, that it really doesn't make much difference in performance. They bolted a High-flow midpipe, then a straight test-pipe onto a Honda N/A and the dyno results only showed 1whp difference between the two....

I don't really think the flow of exhuast in out 2.0L N/A low compression warrents the need for straight pipe exhuasts...Just my thoughts.

Yah, I remember that article. Yah probably true but since I am N/A I need all the hoursy's I can get

Well a straight pipe I can understand as not necessarily being needed. And I don't wanna spark a debate, but Honda's 2.0L are different from our 2.0L so it's really hard to say if that difference applies to our cars. But I'll agree with mazdaspeed777 that it can't hurt to try, especially when Protege Garage is claiming more than one horsepower gain.
