Calling CP-E DP owners...

Sounds ok...and I could just pick one up tommorow on my lunch break...but still, I just can't get myself to crank out that much, even with the high flow cat.

Tell me about it... I thought about it 100 times before making the call. It hurt, hurt really bad...
Pick one up during your lunch break? I thought CP-E was located in Maryland...?

Has CP-e done the O2 sims to cover for a catless set up yet?

Not that I'm aware... I think its still being developed.

(sad1)Seems like I won't be getting it (CP-E catted DP) by Friday...no word from PG as of yet.(sad2)

hey shoot me a PM and I can try to get some info for ya. Shipping this time of year sucks major donkey dong...

and all you need to do to cheat the O2s are 2 spark plug anti-foulers and drill them out pretty simple and works 98% of the time.

I'm pretty sure RPM has them in stock, and its about a fifteen minute hop skip and piss to run down to the storage area, pick one up, and run back to work!

After reading through numerous threads and posts, it appears that this is the deal with the smoke.

1) Mazda's supplier had a run of turbos with weak seals. They know it, and Mazda knows it.
2) Apparently the leak is not bad enough to be noticeable unless you open up the exhaust so that the two cats in the downpipe aren't there to clean up the exhaust smoke.
3) Nobody has yet figured out how to tell if you have the bad seal based on production date, part number or whatever. The only way to tell is by the smoke.

In summary, you either have a turbo with a bad seal or you don't.
The exhaust modification is not a cause, it simply makes the effect more noticeable.

I would think checking your oil often would show your losing oil somewhere as well.

I don't think that would be an indication since its only a few drops of oil that is seeping though the seal. Its not like its gushing out unless you are currently smoking with the factory exhaust.

But the indication of a leaking turbo seal will not be seen in the oil level since like I said its just a few drops and it only occurs at idle...

Agree 100%. The amount of oil leaking past the seals at idle won't be enough to see on the dipstick.

December 26th...day after Christmas...still no CP-E DP.(argh)It's been over 3 weeks since I ordered it. Seems like CP-E dropped the ball on PG... I don't think I'll get it before my Christmas vacation is up now...(sad1) (sad2)

I ordered my CPE DP and catback in early november thru a different online retailer and didn't receive all of my parts until about a month later. I'm under the impression based on many other's experiences that their products are top notch, but they must be busy as hell lately.

Yeah... Seems like CP-E is so busy that they are dropping the ball unintentionally...

My CP-E catted DP is on its way!!!! Wahoo, though I don't know when I'll be able to install it now... (scratch)

Just installed it yesterday... Still need an extend test drive for reviews.
Install was easy, not difficult at all; just lengthy...(2thumbs)

There should be a TSB for weak sealed turbos then. That would clear up this whole issue.

I have catted tbe and have had smoke on 3 occasions that i noticed, one was like an inferno out the back of the car.

the only constant is the car is facing on a downward slope when it happens. If i park the car on a slight decline and start it up (2 of the 3) i have gotten a trace of white smoke. the biggie was driving in the summer, had been wot a few times and then hit construction going down a large hill. 10min of rolling downward a bit at a time seemed to cause a smoke show to happen

uuuggghhh ..... its normal to have white/grey smoke come out somtimes when you have an upgraded exhaust, especially a catless one. its only the turbo if the smoke is blueish and smells like oil. every car that ive had with turbo and upgraded exhaust would kick out a cloud of white smoke after a hard run with the right weather conditions, the metal expands and contracts and the walls sweat out moisture and it burns off as a cloud of white smoke. as long as its not sweet smelling or oily blue color you really shouldnt worry.
you will see more smoke than normal when you upgrade your DP and mid pipe, no worrys though!!!
