Looking for opinions on the following yokahama tires. I am looking to get either the s drives or the parada spec 2's. I am looking for a tire that handles great on the road with the possibility of taking it aoutoxing or road racing. However I don't want to drive 40mph in the rain, and I don't want the spec 2's if they requirie warming up to reach their potential. I also don't want to buy another set of tires in 10k miles. Thanks!

Anyone? I have not been able to find reviews on the s drives except for tirerack. I was also wondering about the spec 2's specific to CA rain.

I have the S drives on my MSP and i LOVE them. They handle great, treadlife seems to be great, very little road noise. I will be buying another set after these.

Also, they handle great in the rain

I think it will be a toss up between the g force's or the s drives. The reviews on the spec 2's are too conflicting for me to feel comfortable about. Thanks!

a cheaper alternative is falken ziex 512s. cheaper than the sdrives, and very grippy. low noise as well.

For road racing, you'll need race tires. And a roll cage and a racing license and.....

And I thought everyone in CA drove 40 mph in the rain. That's what they do here anyway.

In the end, if you want a good tire that autoxes and does track days well, you're just going to have to accept the fact that they are going to wear out quickly. The best part about wearing out tires is getting new tires. AH- that new tire smell!

I had a set of Falken Ziex 512s. Luckily, they no longer make that tire. I had a set wear down to the wear bars in just over 10,000 miles- not a single autox or track day on them either, just lots of interstate driving. And I wasn't too thrilled with them during those miles anyway. The 512s (replaced by the 912) are an all-season tire. If you live in the bay area of CA and don't go into snow country, then you'll want a dedicated summer tire. Summer tires handle rain far better than an all-season could ever hope to.

i have the ZE512s, and they are a summer tire. Hold well in the rain, and dont break grip like my hankooks did.

dunno if there is a difference between those and just regular 512s

Decisions, decisions! Lots of good performing tires out there nowadays.

I thought rain was an excuse to speed up and test one's driving skill? Maybe not!

my ziex 512 still grip like crazy even with less than 10% tread left.

BFG gforce are going to be my next tire.
