Bye bye turbo #2!!!

My 2nd stock k04 is roast big suprise. Might try and get it warrantied cuz mazda is finally admitting to bad turbos on everything before 08 but i'm more than a bit modified. If they won't its gt28 time. Too bad i'm not rich to afford that thing!!!
 
Cp-e nano short ram and turbo inlet, ngr type-s bpv, cobb front mount, mr. lil guy fuel pump, turbo xs tbe, one step colder plugs (big deal right), and a full accessport tune by surgeline tuning runnin 19psi. Weird cuz i don't smoke at idle only in higher gears when i hit boost and let off the throttle. But i jumped on the dyno at surgeline the other day did a pull in 4th and filled the place with smoke. They gave me a difinitive your turbo is ****** lol
 
yeah I would try thicker oil...Mazda has said they won't replace the turbo until they are sure that thicker oil doesn't stop the smoking
 
that suxxx, **** the 28, get the 3076 with a tubular manifold and external wastegate =] wit that and a good tune and ur beatin everythin on the streets, i seen one near me with that setup running like 7 0r 8psi and beetin bigturboed evos,, mad power
 
Haha for what i use this car for aka daily driving i don't need mad power. I'm bettin with a gt28 i can make 360-375 easy if i get it retuned. s*** on the stock k04 i made 317 at the wheels so i'm hopeful. But then i'll need a new clutch :( and i'm confident 5w-40 won't help me here lol its a TON of smoke that rolls out. I'm excited for bigger turbo but sad about the expense haha
 
^^^ nah they cheaped out on the motors as well

i have been blowing smoke at idle for the past 20k, i have gotten used to it. screw warrenty work.

yes because the smoking turbo means the engine sucks too. (hand)
 
The OP is fully bolted and running a tune at 19 psi. I'd only imagine it would be a matter of time before his turbo died.

Did you ever think of getting the turbo reworked yet?

Well, don't be pissed about that most turbo cars smoke a lil, mazda or not. Mine used to, it don't anymore..unless I punch it cause I have a CEL for too much fuel. Then it leaves a cloud lol. And I basically run open downpipe kinda but there is one cat, no ehxaust at all after the 1st cat.
 
bro **** the 28, get the 3076, it isnt that much bigger and spools maybe 500rpms later, trust me once ur car hits 3500 ur gonna be ****** outtt.. for teh price ur gonna spend on a 28, y not spend another couple hundred for a bigger and better turbo? just think of the sound of that wastegate wide open lol
 
Has anyone run a 3076 here on these boards without blowing for at least 5 months?? "my friend has a 10000 hp mazdaspeed" doesn't count. . .

well, any turbo above stock is risky for an unforged motor. Hell, for some people the stock turbo tuned up is too much.
