Thanks!!! Does anyone do ECU tuning/chipping for these things? I can go AFC or something to tailor the fuel a bit, but I want to eliminate fuel cut, possibly recurve the timing and ditch the speed limiter :).. I will check out mazdamotorsports.com too, thanks...

Also- the trans... Does Mazda have a beefier unit that will "bolt in"?

the stock rods are only good for around 225whp give or take a lil. Check out the forced inductions forum there is a lot of knowledge on the limits of this engine there. Pauter has forged rods for the fs engine.

225???? Damn, I have stronger toothpicks!!! Maybe I will just wait for the Neon. I want to offer products for a new car, but I don't want to piss in a windstorm either :).. Not much of a tuner car then.. Mostly hype and accessories I guess... I'll have to wait on more info before getting it then. No sense in building a race car when I want to offer real-world upgrades for it. But if it is going to pop with just some tuning then it isn't worth the time.. Thanks.

Have you driven one yet Joe? They really are awesome cars ... possibly more balanced than the Neon, which seems like its more power than anything else... whereas the MSP is over all more balanced. Hell, the Neon doesn't even have a LSD ...
 
Yes, and I agree.. The "feel" is there.. Just not the power I would like to have... i don't mind tweaking and tuning, but if the 225 whp thing is true about the rods, I don't know now. I will exceed that within the first 2 weeks if I have my way with it :)..

I may just get it and tune it a bit, then let my fiancee take it when I am ready for an Evo or something or buy the Neon for myself as the "fast" car later..

If you've got the money, can't go wrong with the Evo. AWD and the almighty 4G63 which you should already be pretty familiar with ;). Plus, I'm sure by now the transmisssions are stronger ....

Please get an MSP! We could use someone willing to toy with it ... ;)
 
how much would cams port/polish and a chip run for?

Cams max 400 for both intake and exhaust from JDM FSZE
billet blanks 100 each.

CHIP 300 max installed try calling JET

port and polish 300 to 400.

to extrude hone intake is 300. 10 hp gain!

ok for starters

we need the big front mount hard piping kit a better BOV
3inch turbo back
cone and boost controller and fuel controller i prefer HKS EVC and HKS FCON. i say with these mods we will put 225 at the wheels @ 10.5 psi. :D throw in the JDM cams and we will have 240.
250 with bigger injectors.
and then start on the tranmission with a Fidanza flywheel and beefier clutch plate and disc and use Redline gear fluid.
Use dual stage boost control and dont launch with high boost and the tranny should be fine. I am currently looking for a place that makes a synchro rebuild kit. you can also cryogenically treat your gears to make em stronger.

unorthodox pulleys i think will fit as well but they dont recommend it with a car with a bumped up stereo cuz it drains the alternator. dont know if our kenwood is that much a drain.

oh yea i wanna try out the NX intercooler kit also supposed to drop all intake temps on the intercooler and gain some big numbers 15 to 30 hp.
 
Hehe- you want to spray the intercooler, I want to spray the motor :).. I love nitrous on turbo cars.. I just don't know now that I hear all this about the rods...

As for boost controller, I will use mine- www.joepmbc.com ... I am not a big HKS fan, never have been.. My Talon was 487 HP and not one part on it was HK$ or Greedy :).. Just real parts that worked..

Oh yeah- the turbo.. How much boost can it provide before it runs out of steam? I can upgrade at anytime, but if it will support 10-12 psi, I will keep it for now.. I also haven't heard about injector size or impeadance yet, anyone know? I have a few sets for DSM's sitting around from the stock 450's up to 660's. I plan on exhaust, fuel, tuning and 10-12 psi as the first things to do to the car. Then will come IC pipe upgrades and such and then as long as the motor holds up, it will et a bottle and eventually turbo upgrades. I would like it to last at least a year without spitting a rod :).. Hell, my friend runs 14psi on his stock Integra GSR motor with about 170K miles on it and has for almost 2 years now, I would like to think this will hold for a little while :).. Thanks.
