Buying/modding a MSP

yea u can run 10 to 12 psi easy with the T25 just do the fuel enrichment and your good to go. but you might have to use a fuel cut defenser from what people said bout a boost cut after 10 psi.
injector size i have not yet been able to find try calling the parts dept at the mazda dealer

What are common methods of enrichment? FPR? Injectors? FMU? Pump?

I keep forgetting to ask- what type of MAF do these things use? Hotwire, Karman or flapper? Thanks for all the help.. I am going to the dealer at 4 to sign the papers as long as I decide to go this route.. I still have a WRX to look at first, but like I said, EVERYONE has parts for the WRX, I would like something "different" so I leaning more towards the MSP... The neon is still a thought too though.. Damn, I hate deciding on which car to get :)..

I went for a final test drive today and signed the loan app and crap. With the downpayment I plan to put towards it, it shouldn't be a problem.. I'll know first thing tomorrow morning what is going on.. I was still quite disappointed with the lack of pull the car has, but overall it was a very nice driving car.. I was really impressed with the handling for what it is!!

We'll see how the motor holds up to basic tuning and mods.. If I do get it, I should be visiting my exhaust guy this weekend and will see about making DP's and the IC pipes for it.. I also want to make an IC pipe with a flange for a real BOV on the thing!!! That thing looks like a tinker toy :).. How much boost does it actually hold?
Joe

i think you will do good with the msp, there isnt much aftermarket going into these car as of now. even if you cant get 400+hp im sure most people would be happy with 200+. Good luck with it.

I hope so.. Once I get it, I plan to get going ASAP on some upgrade parts. Once I know more, I will post a new thread getting opinions on stuff like if they want a stock or aftermarket BOV fittings/flanges on the IC pipe, etc.. Also I will try to find out what most of you would prefer for exhaust and DP size. I think for the turbo size, 2.5" should be sufficient, but I will want feedback when the time comes.. Later.

THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT HELL YEAH

Thanks.. We'll see what happens. I went through a pretty nasty "breakup" last year that cost me a lot and my credit is TRASHED because of it.. We had to have my Fiancee fill out the credit ap. She has a good score, just not a lot of history. I am looking to put $3000-$5000 down plus a trade with about $3000 equity, so I think anyone should be able to get approved with that much down :).. We'll see what happens. Later.

dude i cant decide what to get!!!!!
i want EVC, FCON, hard piping and front mount, tein coilover system, hyper ground wires, damnit!!!!! dont wanna go in debt charging all these mods...

As convenient as EVC and other electronic controllers are, they are a waste of $$$ if you are on a budget. A manual boost controller will give the same quality of boost control for less than 1/4 the price, you just lose the convenience of in car control, but if you are like me, once it is set, it is set..
I even offer an electronically controled/adjusted MBC and I am still just going to use my standard MBC in my car.

As for front mount and piping, does anyone offer it yet and how much? How about just upgraded piping for a stock IC? I am not going to make it if others offer it already :).. The IC on the car stock is kind of small, but I was still impressed with the thickness of it for a stock IC.. I would think that with a stock turbo, the stock IC with just upgraded piping would suffice, especially at the "low" boost levels these cars run. The turbo really isn't maxing itself out.

Hyper Ground Wires? Plug wires? Not into that sort of thing :).. I have gone 11.20@129 on autozone wires in my DSM and never had an ignition problem.. I upgraded to Magnacores just to have a better set, but am still convinced there was no difference in performance.. The magnacores held up longer though and didn't pull arpart when I would try to unplug them like the AZ wires..

If you are looking to just tune, it isn't about buying stuff, it is putting $$$ where it would work best.. Granted, I am still the new guy here (hell, I haven't even taken delivery yet :) ), but rest assured, I will have a good "recipe" list soon enough that will point you in the right direction for tuning your stock car...
Joe

wow- now I've seen everything.. I can make a dyno show anything you want it to.. The only way a ground would help is if the car had poor grounding or other grounding issues to begin with.. Trust me- I have had some very fast imports and domestics using stock wiring, stock internal motors, stock ECU's in some cases, etc., but then again, people will buy whatever you sell them..

I cannot tell you what to do, but I call it snake oil :).

ARRGGGHHH

Get your car and start making parts bro...
I need help and you seem to be a real enthusiast.
So far smoke and promises are all that seem to exist (after market wise) for the MSP. With the exception of a K&N filter.
Which AGR did a fine job of a walk through on.

Anywho just tweak and report please. I for one will be waiting to hear back from you. Good luck on the loan.
This of course does not discount all you other fine people on the forum who contribute a great deal of info as well.
Linux Ricer etc. you know who are....(usa) (usa) (usa)
