Brown 'rust dust' in my NEW HiBoost piping

I just noticed this. It is only in the biggest pipe (the "U" pipe). It is fine brown powder....like slight rust. It is along the inner surface of the pipe....about half the length of the pipe. Will this fu** up my intake air? How can I get out of the damn pipe? This kit has never been installed and has not sat it a wet environment. Maybe I am dumb and this is something common....but none of my other pipes have this. I am thinking it is slight rust from some moisture that somehow got in the pipe. Please help me. See attached photos.

I have posted numerous times on mild steel piping doing this. Aluminum and SS will not do this, and aluminum is lighter and has better insulation properties. This will happen to that one pipe on the Hiboost system, and everyone who buys beyhondspeed's and DSM convert's hardpipes will have this problem. The pipes become weaker from this over time. I wouldn't want that going into my TB, but I'm sure it will not ruin anything.

Figured that was the case. I think I am going to run a towel through it to loosten up the s***...then air hose it out. Over time more will collect, but for now I dont want any of this in my TB.

giving the piping the bird isn't goint to help much.... but it may make you feel better...

honestly there isn't much you can do, except to coat the inside of the piping with something. I just dont understand why it would be rusting though, because they are chrome plated are they not? you cant plate just the outside (without a lot of work to prevent coating the inside)

but that being said, SS or aluminum is a far better choice for this reason alone, if not others as well.

Hmph. Who the hell knows. I need to install it this saturday. Nothing I can do now.

Take the pipe to a shop with a mandrel bender and a tig welder and tell them you want a pipe exactly like it made of Aluminum.

F-that this is a brand new kit. Does this always happen to these pipes? Most of the pipes in the HiBoost kit are steel. Seems no one else is having this problem.

Sure they do, they just can't see it because they are installed and they just see the chrome plated outside. Out of sight, out of mind.(jerkit)

sad :(

i'd suggest taking the piping to a local ceramic coater and have the entire thing coated inside and out...

they'll bead blast out all the rust that is there and then coat it which will prevent future rust for quite some time

That's what I'm looking into doing now.. I'm trying to get quotes from local powder coating places.

My install is planned for Saturday morning. Can't change this. I am rushing around trying to pull together all the parts. Upon noticing this I also noticed I will need to move my digital boost controller valve, which means I need more silicone hose. I need both 6mm and 4mm. I will also need more 19mm heater hose. Also looking for this....posted a thread on where to get this. I hate running around on day of install. I hate the fact that this pipe is to s***. I will clean it, install it, and later get the b**** fully powder coated in and out so it lasts longer and looks nicer.

i would spray some brake cleaner down there and wash it out, it is a by product of the chromeing process all the ones i have seen look like that, I would'nt worry

It's not a by product of the chroming process. It's because iron-based steel is cheap and has low resistance to corrosion. If you chrome a good material it wouldn't do that. The inside is just exposed metal.
