Brake problem

I keep hearing a kwick, kwick noise when I'm driving at low speed. (not touching the brake pedal.) The noise is coming from the back (rear left wheel)

The brakes are new since decembre 07 (pad and rotors). Since then, I'v changed the retainers (guide plates) on the rear left brake. I'v cleaned everything, I'v put some lube on the back of the pad that faces the piston. I'v lubricate the 2 caliper pins/sliders But I didn't lubricate the guide plates on the side that contacts the brake pads. When the mechanic did my brakes in december 07, he had a lot of troubles entering the piston (rear left) , but finally he got it and saved me from buying me a new one. Could it be my caliper/piston doesn't work correctly? Or is it possible the guide plates are touching my rotor?

it seems maybe this is commen with our P5s.. my rear left caliper went bad.. when i replaced it, just for kicks i put it in a vise and could not get the piston back in.. lol.. though if it were that.. id think itd be a constant dragging noise.. or your roter is warped.. lift the wheel and spin it.. have someone hit the stoppers.. if that wheel stops and then spins freely then id say its fine.. one thing to check would be your backing plate.. my left front was rubbing.. sounded kinda the same.. just some ideas...

Rotors warped? That would cause brake pedal pulsation only, no? I'll check the backplate, it could be that.
thanks.

it would.. to a degree. a slight warp will be absorbed by the slides. and were talking less then a millimeter give or take. if your caliper is bad and you have fresh cut rotors that run true and the pads are dragging youll hear a constant noise, not a kwick kwick kwick, but a kkkkwwwwiiiicccckkk.......... now if your rotors are older and havent been cut in a while you will hear that kwick kwick noise even if its your backing plate.. as it would be touching your rotor too.... now if your caliper is fine and you have excessive lateral run-out you will have a shaky steering wheel if its your front rotors.. a shaky butt if its the rears..

OMG, I do hope you're kidding. You do know the pistons are retracted by spinning a gear, using an allen wrench, in the rear of the caliper, right?!?!?

OMG .. the adjuster backed all the way off.. piston wouldnt budge... in or out.. = bad caliper... the vise was just cuz i like to bust stuff.. good thing i didnt.. forgot about the core charge...(smash) oh and the rubber seal was pushed in wiht the piston.. i liked that.. i love buying a car or truck and finding stuff likt that..

If the piston on the trouble side was set much tighter(allen key)....could that have an effect?

it could be.. id readjust it.. it wouldnt hurt to try.. i dont remember for sure.. but i think you just tightn it till the pad comes in contact then back it off a 1/4 or 1/3 turn.. somthing likt that... i dont like these back calipers.. im going to try and find somthing to sawp..

Thanks, I'll look at it when I get my car back from the body shop to fix the rust on both sides along the wheel well lip.

rust.. ouch.. lucky for me i only had it on my passenger side.. and i fixed it.. cost me 30 bucks total.. rust proofing.. primer.. paint.. clear.. thinner.. most of which i had.. just the paint and rust proofing.. im glad its gone.. im sure you will be too..(drinks)
