brake pads and rotors questions...

Try to get the hanger at the scrapyard. $600 is a lot of money for that work.

You can probably get the hanger and caliper assembly for under $100.
Use the hanger and discard the old caliper. Use the new caliper you ordered from rockauto. For a well trained mechanic, it should take no more then 1 hour to fix this, including the bleeding.

yup..I was like...umm...no way...$600??
I already ordered whole caliper assembly(also comes with pads) from rockauto for about $140, but I will get about $60 back when I send them my old part.
but I have to return my previous order though, because mounting bracket was not included with that order(see attached pic), but it looks nice.
rockauto is reallly good place to buy parts for me since they are located in midwest so it only takes about 2~3days to parts to arrive.
I will let u guys know how it goes on next week. :)

Do you know exactly which part is defective ?

The guide plate or the hub spindle ?

I do not understand what they are referring to.

I'm not sure what it's called but they showed me.
when they were trying to remove just caliper from hanger, it should move back and forth freely, but somehow it won't let it move freely enough unless you use extreme force.
so caliper is causing problme and they said it will damage the hanger if they try to remove it from it.
sorry, I'm not a good at explainning stuff.

In that picture ^ do you know what number and thread the bolt between number 1 and 7 is?? You have to take both out to get the mounting support off and access to your rotor.

I honestly don't know what you are asking...
anyway, I already ordered the part and getting installed on next tuesday.
it's too cold out there to do it myself and I don't trust local shop anymore.
except for may be doing flush services and oil change.

I found the part number for that. I don't even trust my shop for those. They have stripped too many oil pans or not tighten my radiator drain plug enough times.

I don't know what to say....
I also want to do timing belt change but dealer price was $240 for labor and about $160 for parts(belt and valve gasket). coolant flush is $89 and transmission flush is $149 and radiator flush is also $89.
