brake help please!!!

ok it seems like my car is braking all the time- i cant roll down a hill very well, when i push in the clutch to coast my car slows down faster than usual. i am also getting vibrations in the stearing wheel on the highway and when i brake on the highway the vibrations get bad. i figure that one of the calipers are sticking, the front left side gets really hot but doesnt smell bad.

this just happened out of the blue, i havent ran over any potholes or have drivin it hard around corners -has this happened to anyone else?

I think that I am having the same problem with my rear passenger side caliper. I already have new pads. I am getting new rotors soon. I was thinking that I might just retract the piston married with some new pads and hope for the best.

take off the rim, screw in the caliper and then pump them back up.. try that. u will know then if the caliper is sticking, cause it will be a b**** to screw in

thanks guys ill try to take the rim off first then if that doesnt work then ill have to replace the lines bout how much is that going to set me back$?

You can get a whole set of SS lines for like 100 bucks.

could just be a warped rotor as well.

the reason why i am saying it is the brake lines is because you said the calipers are stickig and not returning back. thats the job of the brake lines and over time, they go bad and doesnt allow the caliper pistion to return. it does not sound like bad calipers.

My car is doing the same thing. I was told that since the pads are low the calipers are extending to far and may not be retracting all the way? Not sure, but Im going to replace the pads and rotors soon, and will provide an update.

replacing the rotor and pads have nothing to do with the calipers not retracting back. it is either not enough or the wrong type of brake fluid, bad lines, or a bad caliper and needs a rebuild. if all the calipers are doing this and the car is not drifting a certain direction, it is probably the brake lines.

the car is in the shop rite now and they just told me that i need a new caliper and its goin to cost me like $600

Fak that. You can get them cheaper. Try talking to ken at protege garage. Or try autozone online. I think they have calipers on there for like 114. Or look into rockauto.com.

i had both rear calipers start to sieze a couple weeks ago. it turns out the pins that the calipers swivel on were stuck. my mechanic honed them out, greased the pins up, and put them back in. no problems since, and that was like 50 bucks. i'd say ask them if the caliper had trouble swinging open.

Yes these could possibly be a cause but there is always the chance that the caliper seized which seems like it in this case.

And now that is good mech. I had to do the same b/c pep boys forgot to lube the pins when I replaced the pads...
