BOV; Stalling issue workaround

thanks dunno why didnt think of checking for a locking nut, but for now the car is fine...if ecu does same thing it did to you thats what i will be messing with, wonder if p5 ecu swap had anything to do with it? dont think so but you never know

umm i wasnt aware msp where having problems with stock bpv, its a recirculating one so there should be no problem..(shrug)

Maybe we got each other confused here I was curious if I could make my stock BPV blow off atmospherically by removing the part that make it recirculate. If that wouldn't work, I would be willing to by an actual BOV as long as I didn't have to set my idle to 1,500rpms. Is that a little more clear?

hmm would just get a new bov, will proly be better..as for msp stalling with venting bov i am not sure, because i have read that some people had problems and some dont, so i guess only way would be to try it...as for it idling at 1.5 i dont think it will its kinda high, maybe moving adjusting nut less will lower rpms and still not stall...like i said mine idles at around 8-900rpms...i also dont have a msp so i really couldnt say

also you could try just removing the recirculating part and test to see if it stalls if not you ok, if it does move adjusting nut and see fif it works...

now which part would i remove?? This is the part I'm unclear on.

The only reason people dont stall the MSP is you can drive around it(don't rev hard, and then drop it into neutral). I like getting on my car hard, and if I had te BOV, I knw I owuld be popping it into neutral when pulling up to traffic signals. It's just too much of a hassle for me to worry about it stalling, not to mentin the loss of power steering and brakes.

hah i am not sure, if i had an msp i would help ya out...maybe a msp owner that has done it will help you out...but if it was up to me i would get a bov, but thats just me...

in the msp you must remove the plastic pipe that goes from the bpv to the intake after the MAF.
Be sure to close it because if air enters thru that pipe you will have idle issues....

and....the car doesnt idle in 1500, it just stops there for a sec and then go idle as normal.

Ok, so I took off the recirculating part a few minutes ago(capped both ends off) and took it for a drive. It sounded almost exactly the same as normal. When I got back to my house, I revved it one more time, and it nearly died on me. Other than that, I had no stalling issus. This was just one trip around the block though...So, basically, if I want the higher pitched sound, I need to get the BOV? What exactly does the little silicone hose do? It's located at the top part of the stock BPV...

one hose should be the vacuum line (small hose) the other is the part that recirculates it. I drove my car for over a month with it vented to the atmosphere, it stalled every once in a while. I got in the habbit of bumping the throttle when i shifted to neutral to prevent it from stalling. Now i just drove normal, and it doesnt stall

It really isnt much quieter either.. Bevis just loves that type S venting to the atmosphere.

No, I'm just playing...I was wondering this too. I've got the APEX downpipe, and I can hear my exhaust popping(rarely), and was just curious if it actually is igniting extra fuel, or if it's just a popping sound.
