bought a new toy today!

I'd be very interested to see a how to on this and maybe some dyno's if you can. ;)

Oh,

That is the coil pack for the 1.8Liter FS motor. It also needs for Spark plug wires.
That set up is on the sports 20 as well in 97-99 in japan. You may need to extend the wire harness to go from the coil packs on the engine vavle cover to the old style coil packs. If not go to a junk yard and get it off a wrecked 98 to 00 protege es with 1.8 FS motor.

That helps out with the hestition and throttle response but does not give you to much horsepower. Probably like 2 to 3 HP at the most

yeah, it's not much for hp...you can cut the heat shielding back down to the side of the engine and pull the wires out there...and use electrical tape to seal everything back up. they gave me the wrong set of wires...i believe the wires you should use for this is out of a '99 626...but i'm gonna check on the Nology wires (next paycheck).

oh, and there's not a dyno anywhere around me...however, i've been told that it smooths out the power quite a bit...so the dyno should be much smoother without the small peaks and valleys along the curve.

Make sure you tell us how it turns out after you get the right wires. Even if it just let you get better gasmilage it would be worth it. Also I think it looks a lot better too. It cleans up the vaule cover nicely.

Hey man, aren't you supposed to be workin?
We are def gonna have a "tuning" party when my stuff comes in. then we will all take a little ride, woooooo hoooooooo

dude, it's my day off...we actually get those once a year...and they serve us moldy bread...and vinegar...i love my job!

i can't wait to see rob put that s*** on your car while intoxicated...you're gonna be running 10 lbs of boost to your left brakes...

It is done!

ok,
a "how-to" for this...
1. pull the wires out that connect to the coil-overs and trace them to the right-rear of the engine...you can undo the ties that hold the wire in place by getting something "pointy" and press down the spring where the strip comes out (if that makes sense to you).
2. relocate the thingy where you mount the ignition coil. there's a bolt on the driver's side of the engine...i relocated it there (see pics).
3. mount new coil
4. find something to insulate the wires going to the new coil...i found some crap to use in our service dept.
4. hook it up! the wires come from a 1.8L protege...i think i'm gonna invest in the nology wires. be sure to trim the plug where it enters the engine on the 1st and 3rd plug...see pics. i had one shoot out on my way home thanks to the rubber thing getting caught where the coil-overs were mounted.

i hope this helps!

as for feeling anything different...nothing yet.

have you noticed any differece? I know it would be a little early to tell if it improved your gass milaged. Looks like 7x better I think. Good job!

aftershock,
A. the car "feels" better...whether that's just my mind playing tricks on me or not, i don't know. it just feels like it has a little more pep.

B. if that's you in your pic, you're hot. 'nuff said
C. if that's your girl in the pic, congrats.

a friend (beamrkillr) and i were discussing her today...he claimed that she was the reason i spent so much time on here...he's a freak.

Thats funny tell him that he could have came to her "leaving my ghetto apartment" party. It woul dhave been a blast cicks, beer, what more do you need exectp to try and find a place to park.

oh are you in here talking smack about me. I thought you woulda learned by now. I will be seeing you in about 1 hr. As for the girl, hot yes, but after spending $2G's on an engament ring I don't think parties and girls are what I need. Oh and Topher, as for being a freak, I learned from the best Bro. Later
oh Curcuit City Couldsn't match the quality of the stereo for less than $600 so I will just stikk with my Kenwood #2
