I just bought a 2003 msp and love it. I also just bought a universal boost control for it. The instructions are horrible. Does anyone have any tips or a how to for a manual boost control? Also what should I put the boost at on a stock mazdaspeed protege? This is the first car I've ever had with turbo so I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to turbo mods.

make sure u get a boost guage and turn the boost up slowly. suggested is not to go above 9 psi with stock ems and internals. as for hooking up the mbc i can't really help since i dont have a mazdaspeed so i dont know if the vacuum lines r diffrent plus i have a ebc, dont know if the hookup is the same so i dont want to send u in the wrong direction.

Thanks. I was thinking 9 or 10 psi anyway.

Well, first of all, I hope you have a boost gauge at least.

The MSP has been known to explode on stock boost on some ocassions, so deciding how much extra boost you would like to run is always a gamble. Depends on how much you want to skew the odds in favor of "zoom-zoom-boom" for the sake of more horsepower. Most people would probably say not to increase boost without at least a few pre-requisite mods like exhaust, colder plugs, and possibly an upgraded intercooler. Do some searching, learn the risks and decide what you are comfortable with.

Thanks I will do some more research. I'll probably hold out until I get my exhaust and intake set up first.
