2016 mazda cx-5 touring
I have a 2016 cx-5 touring and have bad Bluetooth audio lag when I watch YouTube videos with the sound through the infotainment, anyone have this problem?

I really hope you're not driving at the same time......

never tried YouTube....my guess is the videostreaming may be interfering with the audio transfer rate. if there are podcast versions of your subscriptions, you should go that route. i don't have any issues with podcast streaming.

I didn't even know I could watch YouTube on my 2016 screen. Then again, I've only used the Bluetooth a handful of times and that was for making and receiving calls. I haven't done anything with it beyond that.

so many variables... could be phone, software, the info unit... would need to do some troubleshooting to narrow it down.

Bluetooth lags on most factory infotainment systems. The problem doesn't seem to crop up with decent aftermarket stereos....not sure why.

This problem has always been there on the 2013-2015 CX-5s. It is generally 1-3s behind.
It applies to music too. Try playing a song and then press the ">>" next song button, your phone will immediately switch, but you will still hear another 2s or so of music as the stereo plays out the buffer. It's a bad system.

I thought it's the system buffering. With a call the audio is a lower quality and not stereo. I thought it was remnant of compressed files. The again I'm guessing. But it's not the first system I've notice that with

It does it through the sub cable too.

To be honest, I always suspected it was intended as a safety feature. Many have accredited it to faults in bluetooth technology but I disagree. I have never had lag to the extant I get in my wife's 2012 Cx9 with any other Bluetooth device. So I assumed it was deliberate to discourage people from playing videos while driving.
