Blue MP3 Touchup paint: HELP!

Hiya. Well, I was applying the Laser Blue Mica touchup paint the dealer sold me yesterday and it just seemed to be a bit off. I know touchup paints usually aren't a perfect match, but it seemed a bit darker than it should be. I looked at my bottle, there is a white sticker on the white cover of the bottle that says "24". I looked at the door panel and it said "24A". Is this still the right thing? In the bottle it looks like it would be Blue MP3 paint. But looks can be deceiving. There really aren't any other markings on the bottle such as a UPC. Can anybody tell me what their touchup bottle says on it?

Thanks!

Chris

Mine says that too, I thought it looked dark also although I haven't actually put any on yet.

I could be a Don miller mistake....

CAREFULL the paint code for our car is 24A...If you got a bottle of 24 they screwed up....I got mine with my car and its 24A, be very carefull

So KurtMP3, I assume you have a white round sticker on the top of the cap on your bottle and it says "24A"? Great. I just went back to my dealer and they assured me its the right one. Idiots... Now what...

Chris

Yup thats why i freaked when I saw you with the wrong number...I just went and grabbed the bottle to double check and it is 24A...now unless my dealership is wrong (and i dont think they are cuz I have used the paint and it works) then you better check it out before you use it

KurtMP3,
The problem is, I already used it. The good thing is, I can remove it easy with a product I have that aids in removing the excess paint that blobs out from the scratch. Now the problem is getting my dealer to BELIEVE me that this is indeed the wrong paint.

I actually called a dealer in Milwaukee, WI and asked. He didn't know a damn thing about the MP3, but he did look up the code "24" in his system and it spit out a blue Miata. I'm so damn pissed.

Kurt, if you have access to a digi-cam, could you just take a picture of your paint bottle with sticker and send it to me in email so I can print it? My email is cgsobotk@hotmail.com...

Maybe we can form an alliance if this is the wrong paint. I'm typically a pushover when it comes to yelling, so I can see myself going back and just getting reamed up the ass and going home silently :). If you can, give the dealer a call too and tell them you think its the wrong paint or something.

24A

I just got the touch up paint recently in Vancouver and it has 24A on top of the bottle, too! I was trying to buy it end of last year but they say the code 24A wasn't on the system yet! I didn't get the touch up paint until the beginning of May!

For Lazer Blue Mica, it must be 24A 24A

Update

Well I talked to about 5 dealers' parts departments around and they all pretty much told me that the "24" bottle is the correct bottle of touchup paint. Three of the five told me that Mazda touchup paints are typically only two digits on the bottle cap. Two of those three confirmed with their parts system that "24" = 24A = Vivid Blue/Laser Blue touchup paint. So I'm going to continue using it.

I realize some of your bottles indeed say "24A" but I don't think I'm going to get anywhere further. Also, after the touchup paint I applied in a few areas dried completely, it was almost impossible to tell where I did it, so I think I'm fine. Thanks for looking at your bottles and for the help.

Chris

well you are probaby good...however....they have their heads up their butts...for mazda have FOUR DIFFERENT colors that start with 24......so according to them you could have four DIFFERENT color bottles of touch-up paint with the same "24" sticker on top....granted they are not all for the same model...or year....however...there are four different letter designators for four different colors. the only saving grace is there is only ONE blue in the bunch....so there ya go.
