are you from Canada ? Coz the 2003 P5s in Canada has the black housing. Not the US though. If you are in Canada, you can go to your local Mazda dealer and get a pair of 2003 headlights housing but its gonna cost you a arm and a leg. Or you can take it to a auto body shop and get it paint. Thats the cheaper root. Might cost ya around 100-150CAN.
no...im in so. cal, so i cant get them here? My friend got some Type-R headlights for his RSX and it cost him like $700 from the Acura dealer in Valencia, I was just wondering if I could do the same thing...
I dont know what paint you can use to do it yourself. You can ask in a locate auto parts store.
But yeah......In canada my friend took his RSX to a auto body shop and got his lights done black for 100$.
Just use some High temp flat black spray paint and save yourself some money. $10 for 2 cans and about 3 hours time or so. Just open the headlights up with a heatgun and paint the housings , after you are done just make sure you seal it up tight with silicone.
I have helped do blackout mods on other cars and they are not that bad. Just have to be patient and take your time. Mask anything off that you don't want painted and I would rough up as much of the area to be painted as I could with like 400 grit or finer sandpaper to insure proper paint adhesion. When sealing back up all that you really need to do is run a bead of silicone around the edge and then what I have done in the past is taken some silicon caulk and run a bead around the edge of the light after it is sealed and then just removed the excess for a clean edge all of the way around and a nice tight seal. that second bead is mainly just like a protective barrier and is more or less to catch any air holes in the first bead. think of it like grouting tile or woodwork. You run a bead to fill the crack and then take off the excess and you are left with a smooth seal. Hope that helps.
If you decide to try this just remember to TAKE YOUR TIME.
