Big CX-5 order ... and surprising needs.

Due to the issue involving my "Ignition is On" problem was going back and forth at dealership. They were today throwing a small party for all CX-5 owners. Basically, a group of marines who recently returned stateside (about 50 to 100 of them) spent thru something called "VA" organization a month evaluating various CUVs and selected CX-5. All of them now or will now possess CX-5 at a deeply discounted rate with the final discount being given by Mazda US for ex-servicemen. BTW: It seems discounts did play a part but more importantly the car's dynamics is what decided it.

Now, here's the surprising part - the service guy told me almost 100% of them selected "Jet Black" as the color. Over 80% requested for tire swap, i.e. put summer tires instead of all-seasons and categorically wanted ONLY FWD. That's what is creating a huge inventory problem.

I can already see a swarm of 50 black CX-5's in a flock on a multi-lane freeway with a bunch of marines behind the wheel. It would remind me of a murder of crows!

That makes me happy that they are getting a good deal, they deserve it. most people dont need AWD. People here in the PNW just think they need it, but that dont.

I love my FWD CX5. Easy on gas and makes the car feel lighter and brakes quicker too.

Unless you cross a mountain pass in the winter when chains are required on all vehicles but AWD.

btw "VA" is the Department of Veteran Affairs. That's a pretty sweet deal they got. If they just came off deployment they will have some change to spend on mods too. If they got broke while in service, they've got even more change for mods lol.
