i have asked this before....cant remember the end result but ill ask again. im thinking of getting a credit card (finally) so which one should I go for?

what do you all reccomend as the best credit card to get?

Cannot have an annual fee, other than that, you tell me what rewards are best.

Anything with a flat rate below 10%, no annual fee, no penalties. You will have to have good credit or belong to a credit union. Don't fall for introductory offers.

i have a BP card. Prime rate plus 10% APR, ive gotten like $300 in free gas so far...

no annual fee, travel insurance, all the good ole stuff

Depends on your credit history. If this is your first card, and little or no history, be prepared for a $300 limit and between 18-24% interest. If you google search "free credit report", you can, once a year, view your credit report on all three agencies for free.

If you are new to credit, providian offers your credit score for free so you can track it. No annual fee and a decent interest rate.

pdhaudio your car is sex on wheels, as for the credit card thing the best credit card is no credit card, ive seen people go crazy in debt

introductory fees are a rip off. something like 2.9% for the first month, then 21% afterwards. dont fall for that.

depending on your age and income, a good way to build credit is to get a card with a very low limit (ie; $500). that way you can chanrge things, not but enough to put you into any serious debt. a way to really screw yourself is to get a card with a $10,000 limit (or even $50,000) and then slowly keep charging small items. then keep telling yourself, "ill start paying it off. just as soon as i buy this last thing." before you know it, your in over your head.

my first card was a mastercard with a $300 limit (no annual fee, 11% apr, etc). i would charge things like gas, cds, videogames,etc. and carry a small balance. then i would pay it off every month or every other month. my credit is excellent and its because i was smart when i was younger.

I already have very good credit and belong to a credit union, though i wouldnt get my card through them....

keeping below i think 30 percent difference of the outstanding balance and the max limit on your credit card helps your credit score, just something to think about when you do get one. pretty much everything else has been covered.

you can help me earn a free psp by applying for a CC!!! see my sig

i know.....*****

capitol one sucks from what i've heard from more then a few people, if anything ever happens, ie cc gets stolen and someone uses it they don't seem to want to help, just food for thought.

As soon as you leave a balance on your card for over 2 months you are in over your head. Period. Credit cards are not free cash or even a way to buy things you currently cannot afford. Think of them simply as a way to avoid carrying cash around.

Get a credit card, any card, and charge things you know you can afford. Put your gas on it and pay your balance in full at the end of the month. Use a savings account to save for big ticket items but pay for them with the card when you have the money ready. When the bill comes in, transfer the money to your checking account and pay it off immediately. It is ok on occassion to slip a month or two, but plan for it. Pay as much as you can each time because the interest rate is like a tax on the mathematically challenged.

I have an American Express card. I pay for my gas and groceries with it because I get double points. I put almost everything I buy on it...and pay it at the end of the month (you are not allowed to keep a balance on an amex card). I've been building up points which are good for Delta Sky Miles and other things.

I also have a VISA that I use on occasion. I put my fiance's ring on it...the next month they increased my balance by $5,000. The best way to build credit is to use your card regularly and pay off the balance every month. The interest rate, fixed or variable, means nothing to you if you pay off the balance.

The answer really depends on what you want it for.

Are you getting it for;
1)Free points, airline mileage, money, etc... and not going to keep a balance on it?
2)Or, are you going to have a balance on it to build up a credit history?
3)Or, are you getting it because you need the money and don't have it?

In order the best ones to get are;

1)Any card that gives you what you want, personally my wife and I use a Citibank Platnium cashback card. If you never float the balance who cares what the interet rate is, just make sure it has no yearly fees.

2)Look for the lowest rate card that will give you the highest limit, this will let you send the least on interest fees and give you a high debit to credit ratio.

3)None, you need to learn to live within your means. Sorry if this sounds mean but most people need to really determine what they an do without before they use credit cards to pay for things. There are times when it's acceptable, like you were laid-off or had another persons income disappear due to death or sickness, but most of the time people just spend more than they need to.
