hit a pothole a couple days ago and the rim is bent to hell. tire is on there now holding air but i'm not confident it will hold it long.

3 are fine, one is bad and i dont know that i can find another P5 stock rim in the area.

i know i need 5 lug rims, but does anything else matter? if i'm searching for rims and want to come across as though i had any sort of clue with dealers (especially the used dealers) what should i be looking for and asking for?

i just need cheap and servicable.

What's your area??? Usually you can find a cheap used set of rims locally from a protege, Mazda3, or the likes...

anyway..

5 lug
114.3 pattern

Offset should be around +45 with anything 7" wide +48 or more for 7 1/2"

Hub-bore is 67.1...If I remember correctly...

hunt the net down for a company that will let you send in your factory O.E. bent wheel and replace it with a copy of that one to you. I'll hunt some of those places down for you while I'm at work, too.

if i send in my rim what will i do to get around?

i have the factory rims, nothing fancy here. car is getting up there and my wife has basically destroyed it over the years and now it's mine to bury.

it has 110K on it so i'm not looking to spend any "real" money. i checked out ebay and found some rims but 175 shipping alone seems laughable. i figured craigslist would be the way to go but all the miata rims say 4 lug rims and ours are 5.

Prototype is right...hubbore is 67.1 and IIRC the stock offset is 50mm.

If you are looking for just one replacement, post a WTB thread in the f/s section and keep checking for people selling theirs. I also recommend ebay and craigslist.com as well.

ok, i'm a bit confused. when i call do i need all these specs or do i just need the 5 lug 114.3 numbers?

can i change tire size and go with something not so low-profile or will it effect gas mileage and such?

Ok, ya beat me to it. lol

If you are just looking for some OEM 16's...search for any 3rd gen Protege (5 lugs), MPV, Tribute, Mazda3, Mazda6 on ebay or craigslist. In a 16" size they will all fit....it is then just a matter of personal taste.

I don't consider the stockers "low-profile"...but in any case...you should google search tire measurements...and you'll learn what the numbers mean..

If you're looking for a 16" wheel it will probably be 6 1/2 wide...this is the wheel not the tire....

With 6 1/2" wheel you can run 205 to 215mm wide tire, the extra width over the stock 195mm wide will give you a softer ride and more tire to absorb the curb check in the future..

The tire's are the low profile part of the equation..You can get slightly wider and taller tires, which will help with the ride quality.
