BEGI Turbo

Keith, what are the chances of you guys putting bigger injectors on there and ditching the FMU?

How about computer upgrades?

The FMU (we call it an AFPR) is a good setup for a car running up to 8 psi. It's also affordable. We've been selling a similar kit for the Miata since, geez, 92 or so. One of our customers has 215,000 miles on his car so we know it works well.

If we decide to offer a kit that goes beyond 8 psi, we'll have to go with some sort of piggyback computer (such as the Link we use on the 1999+ Miatas) with auxiliary injectors or some other sort of engine management system to run larger injectors.

What we do will depend on the strength of the engine and transmission. It's too early to say right now and it's a matter of discussion around here.

Sorry to say it, but pretty much all the Miatas spanked the P5 pretty hard in the autox. It was a really tight course, and the stock suspension and front weight bias didn't do the Proteg any favours. Besides, Miatas are just really good at autox.

I didn't get a chance to drive it on the track, unfortunately.

That's what I kind of figured. At least the Protege 5 got to stretch its legs a little...

Reeves Callaway.

Did you guys see the new dyno results with the new Thermal Exhaust on the FM Turbo Protege? It picked up over 11 hp and 7 ft/lbs at the wheels! Check it out:
