B-Spec

Hey Derrick,

$3200???? Wow! Could you break that down a bit. Entry fees, tires, etc?

What is the entry fee for an SCCA race now?

Thanks,
John

Here is what we calculated out for going to Laguna Seca for the B-Spec race

Spec Tires (qty 5) $830
Vehicle entry Fee $1000
Crew/Racer Credentials $380
Fuel to the event (1500 miles @10 MPG and $4 a gallon) $600
Food, drinks, etc $200
Other $150

An SCCA race weekend for a double header is $450 and fairly close so I can drive the 2 there and not have to trailer it.

Thanks Derrick!!!

Interesting figures.

FWIW, for roadracing karts (World Karting Association):

All day Friday practice: $80 to $100
30 or 45 minute race entry fee: $100
Set of tires $200 - $220 (good for 2 to 4 races depending upon durometer and class entered).
Weekend pit pass $25
Yearly membership about $85
MPG about 20 to 25 with a small PU or trailer
Good beer about $7 a six

I'm in a rich man's game on a poor man's budget....

Yes it is and it is expensive to get experience on the track. Getting track time the way I have is probably the cheapest way except for maybe chump car races where you get hours of driving time (if you don't break, lol).

They changes the rules locally for the Oregon Region SCCA races. You are allowed to drink in the pits if you have no more races for the day. Tomorrow my race is at 9:30, woo-hoo a whole day of drinking here I come!

Here is a blog post I made about the event last weekend.

Interesting, I thought the cars were all supposed to have equal power to weight ratios. So i assumed the Fit in race ready form had to be 20% heavier than the 2. Isn't that what the rules say?

The idea is to make them equal but there are some things each car does better. The fit has a tighter gear set which helps them stay in the power band compared to the rest of the players in the field.
