AZ area racers

After getting a criminal speeding ticket, my days of illegally racing are over. I realized that with the money I spent on a lawyer, ticket, etc. I could have bought a lot of mods.

So now I'm wondering where I can race my MS3. Are there any tracks in Arizona that have open sessions and how do I get into this sport?

People are always saying "take your car to a track" but when it comes down to it I wouldn't know where to start. Anyone that has experience racing in AZ would be very helpful!

Theres PIR and Firebird that I know of in AZ that you can race at. PIR is out west towards Surprise and Firebird is off of the I-10 around Chandler. Those are the main two that I know of. Sucks about the ticket man.

it is always illegal to race on the street. you should know better.

you could drive to California and go to the Mazda racetrack Laguna Seca down in Salinas :p

There are some NASA events coming up. IDK the exact links for it, but check out AZMazdaClub.com. All the info is posted there.

+1

I've been to Firebird, well, specifically to the Bondurant course and it's pretty nice and challenging. I have no idea of track day schedules but you could always call or drop them a line (http://www.firebirdraceway.com/).

If all else fails and you need a speed fix, you could go to Bondurant's karting school, there at Firebird. Mind you go for the CRG karts. Those buggers to 0-100mph in about 6 seconds....they're BIG fun :)

there are a few groups that get on the track as well as Autocross. Check out SCCA at www.azscca.com and NASA Arizona at www.nasaaz.com
I've done the autocross, it's fun, but, not a high speed activity, I want to get out on the track and open her up maybe this fall. There is a cost involved for the classes, membership and registration, but, i am sure it's cheaper than getting stopped by DPS at 120 mph.
