Automatic up/down windows

I have always wanted the bimmer style automatic windows (both up and down) with one touch, does anyone know of a way to get this working on our cars? is it as simple as getting a different switch for the window? or is it more complicated (hard coded in the car's computer). any input would be usefull!

My dad's RX300 has these. For the MSP, you would probably need to get 3 more AUTO switches like the one for the driver's window & then rig up some electrical work. I don't know anything about that, so you would have to ask someone else.

lol you would prob. blow a fuse putting the windows up and down. I remember reading somewhere that when you put all your windows up or down at the same time, you run a big chance of blowing the fuse. Oh well, I don't know jack about electrical systems... even if you get 3 more "driver" controls, you won't have the auto up... only the auto down... correct?

correct about the auto down but not up. all of the windows at once does put a large strain on the electrical system (I can't imagine you'd blow a fuse though) and you can see it at night if you put on your headlights and try to put up all the windows you will notice a significant dim in the headlight emittance. it would be nice to get them to all auto down though. talk to Zap Wizard he really seems to know his stuff when it comes to electrical work (i.e. always on moonroof and non-auto A/C defrost how-tos).

My parents had some mid-80's toyota's (cressida's I believe) that had auto-down but not auto-up. The only thing preventing the car from having an auto-up was a plastic tab that only allowed you to push the switch so far. If you cut it off you had auto-up!

Nowadays however it's a bit more complicated. Most cars with auto-up windows also have pinch-protection, so the window will reverse if it hits something, much like your garage door. Our cars probably don't have motors that will do that, so it may be more difficult to modify them.

i seem to remember reading in the owner's manual not to raise or lower more than 2 windows at once. it stuck because it seemed really odd.

well, it would explain lights dimming and what not. either way, i've taken all 4 of mine up/down with no real problems once or twice, but it makes me nervous that they bothered to say it. so usually i do two at a time.

yeah my lights dim like crazy when i have everything running at once....another look at the manual prolly wouldnt hurt

add a grounding kit and it'll fix that

Moved.

My RSX 3.5 has an aux channel on the remote you can use to run the previously mentioned window control module. The new one controls two windows up/down or four windows one way while the old one controls one window up/day or two windows one way.

That make sense?

I had a viper alarm added to my car that has the window control, they had to install window modules. one touch up and down but only from the drivers switch and from the control. also remote start, i use it as the turbo timer.

Install went okay. It helped that I had OrangeMSP (who has been a car audio installer for years and years) right there. I just mainly sat there and watched. I did hook up the valet switch, though. W00H00.

hmm, so with the module, your normal driver's switches all work auto both ways now? I'm about to get a module for my code, I just did my sunroof with plain relays, going over how bad I really need to wait for the modules to show up, but if I can get the auto up bonus I'll be pretty pleased.
