Auto-X

there is never a bad time...this way you will spend the winter thinkin about what you can do to improve for next year. you can also work on getting more people to come out to events...get friends involved...and possibly look for some sponsors.

First autox was 2 weeks ago, next one is the 23rd. I'm already addicted :) Can't wait for next season. I picked the wrong time to get into it, though. Next autox = last for this season.

You're in VIRGINIA!!!!! There will be autox ALL YEAR LONG!!!! You might have to look for it, though...

I know the Tidewater SCC in VA Beach runs a winter series, and I'd be very surprised if VMSC and/or THSCC don't have events thru the winter...

I don't think vmsc has a winter series, but I'll check to make sure. I'll also check out Tidewater and THSCC (but I dunno what THSCC is, heh). This news makes me very happy :)

We actually have a couple "Wintercrosses" here. Usually it's just a way for the autoX regulars to get together and act crazy in the cold of winter. We have a couple in February as a way to get psyched up for the upcoming season.

Ha - great thread :)

A bunch of us Mazda 6 owners in the MidAtlantic region hve been bitten HARD by the AutoX bug, especially after going to MRIU! Now, around 5-8 of us AutoX on a regular basis (3-6 events for most of us already), and are getting better and quite respectable in stock class (but there's still so much to learn!). It truly is addictive!

Thanks for the great advice on this thread, I'll be keeping an eye here.

If you have time to kill and broadband internet access where you are, enjoy some of the videos from our most recent 2-3 events (many mazdas and other cars featured) ...

We're all already feeling the withdrawal symptoms of the end of the summer AutoX season, and are on the lookout for winter locations and thinking about next Spring :)

Tarheel SCC... They usually run in North Carolina, but they get to Dinwiddie a few times per year.

There is also an SCCA chapter in Tidewater that might run in the winter.

was wondering if anyone that checks out these forums frequently attends any Auto-X's. im always trying to get new people out to have some fun. if so...how long have you been doing it...and...are you totally addicted yet?

I have been racing SCCA since I was 17 (off and on). I have not raced the P5 yet but plan on doing it this spring.

ahh, well that's where you are mistaken, my friend. Philly region runs a winter series that starts in mid-jan and runs through april, where the summer series starts up.

yeah it's cold, but we have the drexel FSAE team selling hot chocolate, and the events are pretty small, so = lots of runs with everyone you know. and sometimes it's a snow-cross! :D

Auto-xing is a great hobby! It's not as expensive as Road Racing or Time Trials, but it offers as much if not more skill. Find a local chapter on the SCCA site and get started. Most chapters will offer novice classes. SK2 is also a good place to start.
