Auto Window Switches

Easy Question:

I have access to a few of the auto up/down switches at a junk yard that are for the drivers window. Could is possibly as easy as swapping switches for the other 3 to have them be auto as well? I haven't taken it apart yet but figured i'd ask first.

It could be worth a shot if there is enough room for the switch (I'd assume it's bigger than the non auto ones) under the switch panel.

I would love to do this too! Especially if someone could figure out how to do auto-up as well. I was driving an 09 Jetta last week and loved that one click could do both up and down all the way. Although honestly, I don't think it'd be just the switch. You'd probs need capacitors and relays for each switch.

No you can't do it it's not as simple as changing a switch. the circuit board is designed so that only the driver side window is auto up and down the other ones can't. I have already taken apart the switches and its a pita just to disassemble the thing.

Figured as much, thanks for the reply and saving me some work!

I added auto up and down for all 4 windows to my 2Way alarm module, so if needed i just hold the button down while driving and it drops all 4 at once and when i get to where I'm going i can close them at once. Also works great after work since i can drop the windows while walking to the car. The systems are available to do 2 or 4 windows in the aftermarket electronic world.

There is some kits for this on ebay, but from what I have seen, it takes a lot of work in the door to make it happen. I would love it too...I hate just the driver's window auto down!

IIRC ( been 5 years now since install) we only had to work with 8 wires for the windows and the 3 to the alarm module. They are DEI units in my drivers door.

bikingpro, could I bother you for a link to where it is you did the auto up/down function with the remote? Its a nice feature to have on my dads Altima. If it's too much of a hassle to find it, I'll give it a search. I would assume ZapWizard might have a tutorial but I'm not entirely sure...

there is no link that i know of, i used the aux 1/2 on my compustar 2way to control the window modules i bought from DEI. im sure if you have an aftermarket alarm and have aux you can easily wire them in.

newer version of my unit now allows one touch for the windows that do not have it
