ARD Help Needed --- ADVAN WHEELS

Im in the market for new rims and right now im after a set of Advan Model5 's in 18s (possibly 19s) but the best price ive found is $500/each for 18s. Is there another company out there that makes a similar style in 18s that will fit or will I just have to shell out the loot for the real deal.

I know the question is directed to Rishie so I'll let him answer it, but for those who want to know what the Model 5's look like, here you go

wheels my look similar, but are not the same. Advan and rota are on two completely different levels. mmmmmm advans.....

Rota Battle is a copy of those Advan wheels.
Rishie had some special made for the Protege .. dunno if he has any left or not.

the Rota Battles are in fact a knock off of the Model5....unfortunately Rota is NOT making it in the proper fitment for a P5 in 18". only 17"

there are a few companies out there that make wheels that are VERY close like the battles are....Speedy makes one too.

ADR Makes one it is called ADR Kasai, i was thinking about getting them, they only come in 17" size though. They can be found on wheelmax.com

I'm glad people are on top of this for you Gurly. I think Rishie is in LA for some part of this week. I say go for the Advans.

OK, I finally found the photo I was looking for definately stick with the real Advans........

Bronze was the cheapest where I found these.

I think most of the wheels out there are made by some manufacturing company in the east and then they are sold here under different names. ADR Kasai at least in the pictures looks the same. why pay extra when you can get the same thing cheaper. i would not buy in the mail though, a lot of the rims i looked at including expensive ones have defects in the finish. get rims only when you inspected them. just MHO :)

YellowMP5 - the ADR Kasai and the Rota Battle and Advans are all different wheels (diff weights and slightly diff features), so I dunno if you're implying that they are equal, but they're definitely not. That being said, I love my Rota Battles, and they are very well priced, and are quite light (19lbs) compared to the rest . If you can settle for 17's, DEFINITELY get the battles, if not go w/ the ADR from Rishie.

i didn't say they are the same. i said they "look" the same from the pictures. they might be different. i am sure rota's are good. but if she likes the kasai also and there is a cheaper price then i would go with ADR.

Well if you want an idea of how they would look on the car here ya go. It's not the real deal but hey it was cheap.

i'm under the impression that advan rims are forged. the knockoffs aren't. forged rims are much stronger than non forged rims. if a rim breaks you will be kicking yourself for not spending the extra money to get forged rims. at that point you will need a whole new axle, brake, and maybe suspension. i really don't care how expensive they are, but i plan on getting some nice forged rims. they will save me trouble later on.

I have never seen nore heard someone brek their rim from driving except in extreme circumstances such as Le Mans. Of course our cars don't put that kind of pwer down so you need not worry. I think the Rota's are forged though

i've seen a wrx snap the center off of a knockoff volk ce28, clean. its was during an auto-x. he got out, chased the rest of the rim and rolled it back. his car needed a whole new front right. including suspension, camber plates etc. it was really bad. they couldn't get the car off the course for like 30min.
