Anyone want forged pistons? 10:1 - 0.020" over

I'm having some pistons made by Wiseco. Specs are 10:1 compression and 0.020" over (3.29" bore X 3.62 stroke).

I only actually need one made, I have 3 good ones. But they won't make less than 4 in this case. In most cases they won't make less than 12, but this order is to replace pistons they've built already. (Rod snapped and threw it into the valves.) (Not on my motor)

The cost is $105.21 each, includes rings and wristpins. These are floating wristpins.

For reference, the average cost to bore the block is around 100 bucks. (Most find it's less.)

I thought I'd give you guys the chance to get in on it too. Seeing as how we share an engine. :)

For those who don't know me, I'm a moderator on ProbeTalk.com for the 2.0 forums.

The thread there is: http://www.probetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1701042291

I will check this periodically, but the fastest ways to get me are through posting in that thread or emailing me at eduelfer@navigantconsulting.com

BTW: If there's a lot of interest (I do mean a lot, something like 24 pistons need to be ordered) there might be some sort of discount. I don't know what it would be, I didn't ask because honestly I don't expect that many orders.

I need 4 pistons for 0.20 over but i can not afford them right now. i have an extra 2.0l i am building for mine but wasnt going to get real serious with it for a few months.

hmm..you have JE pistons? How much did it cost you guys to upgrade to higher compression pistons?..well not you linux..your boosted..you went lower..but i want to get pistons done on my DX..i was also looking into having the intake manifold ported and polished

The price would be in the neighborhood of 1200-1500 probably, depending on specific costs and any labor involved.

Pistons as you can see can run you between 400 and 600. These you'll need rods with so you'll need another 600 to 800 for those. Then putting it together will cost. If it's in the car, you'll need someone to pull it if the pistons are overbore.

thats what i figured..now how does that compare to doing cam work..i was looking into replacing the shaft and having the motor re-timed..or would the pistons be more bang for the buck? In a perferct world I'd like to have the High-compression pistons, titanium connecting rods, valve springs, head (port/polish), intake manifold (port/polish) cam shaft, cam gear, and motor timing done all at the same time..too bad that all would cost including labor close to 3k$....someday..

All that could cost quite a bit more than 3k.

Titanium connecting rods. Those will hurt.

You could conceivable spend 3 grand on headwork alone. More than likely it'll come out to 1k to 1.5k, (including cams).

In a perfect world, all of that would be nice.

In THIS world, a combo of the high comp pistons (w/ forged rods) and custom ground cams would be a big kick in the ass. Throw some posting into the mix and you're golden. And if you're a little bit crazy a shot is not out of the question. (Just pay attention to fueling.)
