Anyone else into Bodybuilding / Weightlifting?

Yeah, big ben you're a beast, no doubt about it. I think weight lifting comes more naturally to stocky shorter guys. I've really cut back on lifting after I finished college, do it more to stay in shape now. Also I completely agree with the earlier comment about big guys wanting to be cut and skinny guys wanting to be big.....grass is greener syndrome I guess.
Oh and Katsmp3...how you doin' (naughty)

Yeah, I think it does too. I remember being at competitions though and there wasone guy on our team that squated 925lbs. He weighed about 290 though. He actually broke his back one time while trying to set the All Army record. He figured he broke it the next day when it wouldn't stop burning in his lower back and legs. It was just a small crack though. Nothing serious. I love lifting weights. I actually feel guilty if I go 3 days without going to the gym. The weights are my friends.:D

Creatine: don't use it anymore. It used to give me lower back pains and made me piss fire. It did the same to my bro.

It's bad for the kidneys. But hey, for some people, it just doesn't bother them at all.

That's very true. I have friends that creatine doesn't work for at all. I describe what it does to me, and they get none of the results that I do. Creatine for me works wonders. After an arm workout, I can't even touch the back of my head to scratch it because my arms are so swolen with water. I drink probably 2 to 2.5 gallons of water a day though so I won't get any cramping from it. Creatine takes a majority of the water and crams it into your muscles.

A big problem with creatine is that it is requires a lot more water in your system. It's hard on you kidneys and lack of hydration make things worse. I"m not a big fan of soy protein because some women use it as a substitute for HRT. It contains a estrogen like substance that can hinder wieght loss and muscle gain. Some guys are more susceptible than others.... it's kinda scary to see guys at the gym with man boobs. (Soy isn't all bad though it said that 20 grams a day can reduce risk for heart disease)

Has anyone tried NO2 by MRI. It's a great product. It's a time released arganine supplement... works wonders. Works well with other supplements too.

I tried it and it didn't do anything for me. I have talked to a few people that it did work for though. But I never felt that "perpetual pump" that they describe. ANd I tried it for 3 months. (EXPENSIVE!)

My car is slow so I stay at minimun weight to make up for it. I weigh 143lbs and might be able to max my own body wieght if I had someone help me. I'm not sure what my problem is. I can eat a whole box of pasta by myself or a whole large pizza alone, but I can't gain any wieght. I go broke trying to buy food and I don't want to take any weird GNC supplements. I think somewhere in my DNA is the metabolism of a hummingbird.

wierd supplements are already found in most of you foods.... just not in large amounts. To put on mass you need protein either from food or supplementation.

If you have a fast metabollism and you're feeding it carbs like pasta, it'll only help keep it fast. Eat more high protein meals / 4 times a day. For your kind of metabollism, it should help you. (thumb)

Thanks...I guess I should mention that I'm Vegan. That doesn't help much either, huh? I'm trying to work more protien into my meals through beans and soy products. It gets soo expensive though. Thanks for the help.

Hmm... can you use whey? I don't believe there are any animal products in that. Too much soy isn't really good either. It contains pytoestrogens... not good for guys....

Whey is made from milk...like curds and whey. Can't have whey either. i'm not eating too much soy right now. I have tofu about once or twice a week. Thats it.

That's right damn.... uh... don't know what to tell you...a little soy is good though supposedly good for the heart, this was based on womens health thought not sure how good it is for guys hearts...

genetics play a role, some people are luckier than others. diet is a major factor, proper training, and rest. Being we're on a car foum think of it like running on all cylinders. If your not running on all cylinders you'll stall/make little or no progress.

Basically if you want to gain you should take in more than you burn and for burning fat vice versa. Clean calories though. Diet is key!

no fish, no meat, no whey

egg whites are a great source of protein but other than that I don't know what to tell you either Jus

Eat nuts. Most fats are good ones. And cottage cheese; I'm not sure if you can eat it but I can garantee you there ain't nothing better out there for gains. Eat a half cup 30 minutes before going to bed. Not only is it packed wih proteins, but it's recently been proven to actually stimulate your body to burn the "bad fats" during sleep.

EGG WHITES...great for proteins.

Vegan, def.: no animal products of any kind including honey and milk, no eggs either

I can't think of any affordable sources of vegan protein other than those that have been mentioned offhand.

All you guys are making me feel like a lard-ass now! I'm lucky if I make it to the gym 3 times a week anymore, but alas working on my car, partying, and the college life are taking away alot of time that could be spent at the gym. Since I returned to school in January I have been packing on the pounds, I am currently at 230lb's and I am only 6'-2". Before school started I was at a nice 210lb, but that was mostly due to me workin hard everyday when I was a construction labourer. Perhaps its time I started running in the morning again, watching the bad food I eat at night?
