any way to tell what color illumination on this headunit?

Don't know what car this came out of. Anyone know if this style lights up green or amber? Or did it come both ways?

Green, its not from a P5 so it ain't red.

The face is detatchable so if you have a broken one that is the right color you can transfer the face over...in theory.

I thought the ES had a red one too?

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Anyway, based on the look of the load/eject buttons I can tell it didn't come from a 02-03 Protege or Protege5 and before teh Protege5 I am certain none had red lighting...but I guess I could be wrong about that too.

The ES does have red illumination, but it's the same unit as the P5. This one is definitely from a DX/LX and has green illumination, but from what I've heard, it's fairly simple to change it to whatever color you want.

Anyone know how to change the color of the head units?

You can't as far as I know. You'd have to replace the whole face...and if you do that you might as well just get a new one. You could try replacing some of the illumination LEDs but I don't think you'll be able to replace the ones that light up the display since the backlight is integrated.
