like i said a display helps also, here is mine........ well i normally dont put the tent over my car i was bored and was not judged at this show. a display helps out alot and roping off your car keeps people from sitting in your car (happened at the first show i attended so i always rope off my car now!!)

Roping can also hinder the judges unless u are there let them in to inspect the car -- however, you shouldnt leave the car until it is judged anyway!

ya during the show my hood is open abt 1/2 way and same with the trunk but when the judge comes i open everything all the way up so they have a better view. i am alsways their when they judge. we leave 1 person by the cars at all times and when they see a judge come up they call all of us.

well i got in contact with one place and he gave me and estamit for $65 to paint it, "high quality paint with a clear coat" and what not. so i went to oreilly's as a back up to see what they have. and they didn't have the high temp gloss blue like i wanted. they only had a ford dark blue. i told them what i wanted to do and had my cover i was going to paint and i showed them it. they wanted me to get some acrylic primer and paint and possibly some of that dent stuff that you sand down to make all smooth. they then aid get some clear coat for that shine i wanted. but i wasn't sure about all that. so i'm going to continue calling around to see whats the best deal i can get.

I see what your saying about a display keeping people out of your ride, but from what I gathered from most judges they dont like to see rides blocked off. Most of the events that I have been at we are pretty good friends with the judges and they tend to complain about people setting up all of there trophies in front of there car. They say not only does it block the view of the car but it makes it seem like the person is 'bragging' almost that they win all the time. Shows arent all about the trophies, its about having a good time, meeting up with friends, and showing your creation off to other people who have done the same. I have only had my car at 1 show so far but we have set my bf's car up at a bunch of shows and this is how he displays it...oh and its a Honda I know how much most of you hate them but oh well...

He is always around for judging but keeps the doors and windows closed at the show so people dont reach in and grab stuff, get into the car, etc. He keeps the trunk popped and usually held open with one of the product he uses to clean his car, and the hood is used to be held open by a painted spring, but now its held open by a billet rod. I know there are shows were they award you for your display, or you get a special trophie for it but most of them that we have ever been to they dont. He also told me to mention that people who are shooting show coverage tend to avoid those cars because they cant get a clear picture, not that it is all that important to get your car in a magazine these days..... Just some thoughts, not knocking your setup at all, to each there own.
