Nice lens, nice picture. My only suggestion for improvement would be to get some light on those eyes to make them stand out. If you are using ambient light in the image then there is little you can do. However, if you are using a flash (off camera) and a reflector you can get some very nice effects.

I've been reading this blog called Strobist (http://strobist.blogspot.com/) and they have some excellent advice for lighting on a budget.

i did have an external flash hooked up at the time, but i only used ambient light. you're right though, getting those eyes to really shine make a very nice focus point that stands out.

thanks for that link. i really want to get better at lighting. i even thought about going to take a class locally on it.

^so whos your GF this weekend?

LOL... same one? haha...

Quick pic I snagged at Disney's Epcot. Member of the group "loverboy" ya I know I love the 80s too lol.

A tip ~ sunset and fall foliage shooters ~ try turning your back on the sunset (or sunrise) and shoot subjects in the sunset light. You'll probably get some results that will please you.

So where are you pictures of Skyline Drive? You've got to make it out there all the time since you live 45 minutes from the south entrance, right? I think this past weekend would have been the peak color out there if not already a little past.

This was taken with my Canon point-and-shoot A70 in Night-mode while my wife and I were on our honeymoon at Disney last week. The camera was rested on a post and the flash was used to brighten us up while a long exposure allowed the lights in the background to shine through. I was surprised at how well it came out. Unfortuately it was late in the evening and the sky didn't have any color left in it.

<img src="http://www.huyler.net/phpAlbum/main.php?cmd=image&var1=2006-10--Wedding%2F2006-10-15--Honeymoon%2FIMG_3971.jpg&var2=700_85">

I tried to duplicate this shot with some more interesting backgrounds later in the week. I think I got a good one with Cinderella's castle but it is tough to a) find a spot that doesn't require a tripod and b) doesn't have a million people walking by. I made use of posts, trash cans, and other stationary objects.

I have an A70.... when did you get yours?

oh and congrats on the nups

I've had mine for several years. Its great for a point-and-shoot because it has all the options I need and I can still stick it in my pocket. However, it occasionally corrupts photos on my 1GB memory card when it starts to fill up and there is a delay when it writes to memory so I can't take full res photos very quickly. But if I were to buy another camera, it would be something with a larger lens so I'll be sticking with my A70 for a while.

could i maybe get some input... im working on shooting my college portfolio... so any critique would be awesome!

thanks guys...
