Which lens(es) are you shooting with?

just the EF-S 18-55mm kit lens. i'm looking into getting a new lens, not sure which one yet. i have narrowed it down to three, 17-40mm f4 L, 17-55mm f2.8 IS or 24-105mm f4 L. the first one is least expensive, the last two are roughly the same price.

You can't go wrong with 17-40 The only complain i have is f/4
I was considering getting the 24-70 f/2.8L, but I decided to go with 70-200 f/2.8L, then maybe later on in the near future fill in the 24-70.

the 17-40 is a nice lens, has that nice red ring! i'm leaning towards the 17-55mm F/2.8 IS because it's being proven as a great lens right now. B&H is all sold out from pre-orders. perhaps it'll drop in price a little since $1200 for that is a bit pricey for a non-L series lens.

i held the 24-70 and took some pics with it. it's a BIG lens. not sure if i want something that big as a walkaround lens. plus i lose a bit at the wider end. the 70-200 f/2.8L is a nice lens too.

Yeah I have the kit lens as well as the 50mm 2.8 prime ($80). The 50 takes some very nice pics - very little chromatic abberation and plenty sharp. I have in my B&H cart the 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM - I think it will serve our purposes well, even though I was looking at the 70-200mm f4 L for roughly the same price. I'm torn between the two but I think the IS will prove to be very useful (even though I do have a tripod).

Canon has issued a service notice to the 70-300... i would wait until they resolve the situation by either issuing new release of the lens or having a complete solution by sending in the lens for service.

yeah, take a look here. i don't think it affects all lenses, but i'm sure it affects a good number of them and you would only know if you have a bad copy by taking pics in vertical mode.
