Any Complaints (hopefully all minor)

in bluetooth settings, you'll notice you can connect either phone or audio via bluethooth, or both. If you use the USB connector with your phone for audio, you can still use the bluetooth with your phone for the car's phone interface.

So I've been trying your suggestion, and at first it seemed perfect. But I've noticed it only works for that one instance. If I turn the CX-5 off and disconnect the USB cable and when I return the next time, the bluetooth audio starts right up again and I have to go in and turn it off each time. Is that normal, or I wonder if it's a bug? It's very annoying.

The front pillars (the huge beams to the left and right of windshield) Does anyone else think these things are just a tad too wide? the other day I'm making a left turn. I look to the right no cars, look to the left no cars, look to the right real quick didn't see anything then as I went there's suddenly a car that appeared and blowing his horn like crazy on my passenger side, which I replied in a not so nice manner. But anyways when I went to the same intersection it looks like the guy came out of this little deli lot which is completely covered by the right side pillar.

Maybe these are federal regulations as my wife's 09 Civic had the same wide pillars. My truck and the Altima does not have them this wide. Just wondering if anyone else thought these were too wide and get in the way of seeing as well. Learned my lesson, definitely looking around these pillars from now on.

Front windshield pillars for a 2012/2013 model year top safety pick vehicle are not abnormally thick from what I've noticed. Side mirrors were intentionally designed to improve vision near areas near pillars too.

The pillars on the cx5 is not as wide compared to the Mazda 5 that I used to own. I always hated the pillar on the 5 but this is much better.

I sedoncd that.. I'm just waiting to put a hole throught that carpet.. thinking I might find an old pedal rest, and just bolt it in...
I thought the same thing. I also wish it was a little bit wider. Not a big deal, I just think it would make driving long distances a little more comfortable.

Does anyone else notice that some of the doors close smoother than the others or is this just an isolated thing with mine? My rear passenger door when closing after fully opened kinda makes these subtle clicks when closing. Right around where the door has those door open position where it prevents the door from opening all the way. Maybe a bad hinge? if it keeps up or the noise gets worse I'm taking to the dealer to get it checked out.

Or better yet if someone has the time can you open and close the fronts and then the rears and see if you feel/hear a difference, this would be really helpful. Maybe these are how they're supposed to be? I will keep an eye on this.

I opened the front and rear doors several times and did not hear any clicks or notice anything abnormal.

After 1 week/300 miles of ownership, my complaints so far are:

-Having to SLAM the rear hatch shut, otherwise it's not closed fully and the car starts beeping like crazy when I try to lock it
-There is a lag in the Bluetooth audio controls (about two secs between when I press "next song" and when my iPhone complies with the request)

I did notice the mirror vibration briefly during my drive home from the dealer, but I haven't noticed it since.
The TomTom Nav system does have its quirks, but it is so much better than the Toyota Nav system that I'm currently forgiving its shortcomings.

I have the sport manual and I wish the 40/20/40 fold down seats were an option. The kids would fold down the middle part to seperate them and could use the cupholders there.

The manual trans is soo smooth. I also have a protege5 manual the clutch feels all wrong now that I'm used to the CX-5. My wife noticed that the Protege5 clutch felt wrong a little after we got the CX-5 also.

Don't slam the door. It has a different type of locking system. Just lower it to about 2 inches from closing and then push it into position slowly but firmly.

Thanks Kabkaba! I've tried this out a few times now as you say, and sure enough it is working fine now. Does take a little getting used to though.

Yeah, I for one appreciate the headreast design. I don't have a CX-5, but have driven one, also my 6 and CX-9 have the same sort of angled headrests. At 6'2" it is very comfortable with none of the discomfort some have mentioned. As others have said this is an anti-whiplash design, so those of you who say "just reverse it" are putting your neck and life in danger in the event of a rear end collision.

My 5-11 husband thought the height was nice. As the primary driver and 5-2 - the very top of my head just hits the bottom of the headrests and the angle is very sharp...I wish I was an entire foot taller. Backwards for now .

I posted my concern in another area as well but the short version is the outside of the windshield fogs up at the slightest hint of humidity. Has anyone else encountered this?

Mine does the same thing, doesn't matter if the AC is on or not.

My only real annoyance after getting my CX-5 touring is that not all the models have the full advanced keyless entry features. If they're not going to let me unlock the doors without the dongle on anything but the grand touring, I might as well have a key and not a push button start! Instead I get in the car and have to remember to put the dongle back in my pocket or I might forget to take it out again.

It's been bugging me for the week since I got my touring...I didn't want to dish out for the upper model since I don't care about anything else on the gt ugh.

My wife picked up her CX-5 GT 3 weeks ago. While she does most of the driving, here is my list of annoyances:
(1) side-mirror vibration; really annoying especially since it is the first vehicle I have ever owned that had this issue; not sure if there is anything the dealer can do to fix
(2) steering-wheel controls for radio do not have a "source" button; if you want to change the source, you need to do it on the radio. This also applies to presets lists - if you want to scan thru the presets you have to change the "page" on the radio, otherwise it just cycles thru the presets on the first "page".
(3) power, or lack of. So much for "zoom-zoom". I know its a 4cyl and fuel-efficient, but still could be a bit peppier, especially in that first gear (automatic).
(4) seats seem "short". My thigh seems to dangle over the edge of the drivers seat more than other cars. I'm not that tall, but could use another 2" or more to feel comfortable.
(5) havent figured out how to lower the volume of the TomTom when there is another source playing. The nav voice is much louder when it comes on and can be quite jarring, but I'm sure there is a setting somewhere for that...
(6) rear visibility is poor - difficult to see out of the rear passenger-side windows when passing on the right. The BSM is ok, but I like to check myself.

That's pretty much it. Not a long list by any means, which is a good thing. What do I really like? The keyless function is great. Not having to use the key to lock/unlock/start the car is best thing since sliced bread.

Anyone have any suggestions to stabilize that side-mirror?

Do you guys have the voice controlled Sat Nav? If so you can change the volume by pressing the voice control button and using one of the preset commands. louder, quieter etc, I'm not sure of the exact command but its in the help section on the system. It's the only way I worked out how to change the volume. Can't find how to using manual controls.

1 - Known issue. There's a TSB in the works which should hopefully be released in the next month.
2 - Agreed, but you get used to it :-)
3 - Definitely an acquired taste. I'm used to a bit more power from my Mazda's, but it's not as bad if you use the manual mode or when you get used modulating the throttle.
4 - Not an issue for me.
5 - You can go to the Sound page in settings to adjust. You can also adjust using the volume buttons on the steering wheel on the fly. Ex: if you're listening to music, volume buttons adjust music levels. If you're on a call, volume buttons adjust call sound level. Same with Navi, call rings, etc.
6 - Still trying to find out how to get the Euro headsets (and if they work) for the US. Otherwise, BSM and back up camera's do a pretty good job.

Hope this helped a bit and enjoy the car!
