Another Bad Motor?!?!?

Hey RX-KEVIN!

This motor in my car was a "BRAND NEW" motor that was taken straight from the assembly line.I just found this out yesterday from my dealer and Mazda.I called to find out and the Mazda rep made the decision to put a "NEW" motor from the line in it because of the milage and the car.They also did put a new turbo from callaway on it too!I just got the papework from all of it in the mail yesterday.Would you beleive that they only paid the tech 10.4 hrs. to do the diag.,tear-down,and motor swap!What a crock!I feel for the techs on warranty repairs,they get shafted!Now I know why I got scratces in places they shouldn't be though!

Dude I understand you with the scratches. I was working on a MP3 with bad rod bearings. To replace them you have to seperate the trans from motor just to get to two important bolts. Pays 4.0 hrs. The car had all kinds of yellow powder coated stuff under the hood. The owner is on this forum.

ForceFed - your symptoms sound like piston slap. quite common on Subaru engines.
