Alberta folk - What up?

Nice, were you on McKnight yesterday around 1pm? I was staring down whoever it was cursing them because of the sweet sweet orange MSP they were driving!

Where to buy in Edmonton

Hey all,

I'm here in Edmonton, deciding on a P5. Any recommendations on dealerships? What's a reasonable price to pay?

Hey Quince

Jarman Mazda is good and they are also a sponsor of our local club the Edmonton Protege Club. Jim in service is a member of the club as well as on the club committee.

As for how much, that is always a hard question since it depends on what options you get.

When you do buy you can pop on over to our local board at http://www.edmontonprotegeclub.com

We will probably be changing the club soon to an all Mazda club since several of our members have upgraded to Mazda 6 vehicles and we really did not want to exclude them.

I just got mine so no mods yet. I will probably end up with a Mazda speed axle back as long as it isn't ricey and lowering springs. I have to do a bit of research on that to see if there are springs you can get that don't void the warranty or blow the shocks. Probably best to check with dealer.

I have Eibach springs in mine and they are great. I got them from the dealer and he put them in so I don't think they should void any warranty.

Cheers

Yo Andy,

I have the mazda speed axle back and it's not to bad. Infact once it broke in it got quiter (unless my hearing got worse :D ) If you want to hear it let me know. As for springs, unless you stay stock, you will shorten the life span of the struts. I wouldn't buy aftermarket springs from the stealership. They charge to much.

This is what they quoted me:

Eibach Spring Kit $435 +Tax
Install $328 + Tax

Too much.

Kona, you have the exact set up that I want to go with. Man I would kill to check it out. My wife is working till 10pm, I am a free man tonight if you want to hook up for a few minutes.

That is way too much. When I had my acura the springs were $350 and install was $100.

I will probably do it myself so I don't have to deal with some guy gyping me. Let me know if you want to hook up.

I haven't got the springs yet either. Maybe once one of us gets a good lead on some, get together, and share on the install costs (renting the spring compressor). As for tonight, can't do. Maybe tomorrow? Have you thought about modding the intake?

hey whats up i`m from edmonton. As for Jarman Mazda... well damn i can`t say enough good things about those people. from sales to service there isn`t one rude person there. If anyone knows of someone looking to purchase a 2003 Spicy Orange Mazdaspeed Protege let me know at mazdaspeed_03@hotmail.com

Hi andyfatsax and kona bear

Just to let you know that if you install your springs yourself, which is probably not that hard to do if you have the tools, you will still have to get the wheels re-aligned. My dealer did a 4 wheel alignment when he installed my Eibach springs.

I could have installed the springs myself but I figure my time is worth something and plus I would have had to get a spring compressor. The other tools I had.

Thanks Sky, I'll remember that.

Just for comparison, do you remember how much you paid for your springs and install? Thanks again

Talk to PE Tuning, they'll give you a wicked deal on Tein springs.

Also, a wheel alignment after lowering the car is not needed! I know a lot of places recommend it but it's a waste of money. If you intend on getting your camber fixed, save it until then.
