has anyone put air ride on their 3? i see that everyones usin the lowering springs and havent heard much about usin air bags instead of the springs... if you have or know what some pros and cons of air ride over springs lemme know... or am i just an idiot for thinking air? thanks

Air Lift is about $2200. Lowering springs are about $200. $350 for Swift springs. So, if you're on a budget, just get lowering springs or coils if you want to be adjustable. My roommate has air on his '06 IS350. Super comfortable especially compared to my car since I'm on coils on a stiff setting. He just upgraded his air so now he has presets available. Before, it's just a control inside the car to "manually" raise and lower the car to a certain point. His main reason for getting air is to adjust his height for shows/photo shoots. A huge con before he upgraded was his fuse for his air burned/melted, and his air gave out making his car sink like a ship. After the upgrade, if the fuse goes out, his car will stay the same height. You'll have to think about that too. In my opinion, if you're not a show car, don't get air and just get coils.

Air Lift would actually be closer to $4000 after you took air management into consideration. $2200 would just about cover the front struts and rear bag and lower control arm setup.
Ask Pigzibit over at M3R....
Pigzibit is a special case, no one makes a set of front struts for 3rd gens yet (2014+), so he is running airlift struts with a custom built top mount/camber plate and one off bag brackets in the rear.
He's got a lot more involved simply due to the labor involved in building the first setup for a 3rd gen!
