anyone know what kinda specs on an air compressor will be sufficient enuff to use for air tools on a car?

just get a 5 or 6 gallon and it will have an appropriate amount of hp, and they all run about 130 psi max which is plenty.. i have a 6 gallon craftsman one its nice, and powers the impact fine

its more about the cfm, than the hp or psi(ie how much cfm at 90psi)...cause that is what most air tools run at...i hope you have not purchased one yet...you should look at the tools you will be using the most and get one that produces enough air for the one that consumes the most...it will usually be the Impact wrench, but since you wont use that constantly it shouldnt soncern you that much...hope this helped...lmk if you have anymore questions, cause i did a lot of research on this before i bought mine

and one more thing i forgot to add, never run above the max psi the hose/tool are rated for...i have seen a hose burst due to using too much pressure and it really messed that guy up

those small, pancake-type compressors are more for air nailers and such...for automotive air tools, you will most likely need at least a 15 gallon tank...personally i have a 25 or 26 gallon one(cant remember right now)...but those are obviously more costly, if i were you i would save up until you can get a bigger one.
