Aeroforce scan gauge problem.....

NEED HELP! My gauge will power up then tell me annunicator is on. Then it will go to the next screen and display AF/ratio and AF/ratio, those words, not a value. Then after about 5 seconds it will power off. I have the setup set to AF/ratio and knock retard. What's the deal?

Also, it powered up without the key even in the ignition. And the first time it is powered up, I thought it was supposed to ask me to set it up? Instead it keeps powering off.

Now when I turn on the car, the gauge does nothing. It will not come on unless I push the buttons. Then, after roughly 5-10 seconds, it powers back off. It WILL NOT stay on at all, nor will it read any values or basically do anything. Any help would be most appreciated, considering I am on the brink of smashing something................ How could I have gone wrong? Plug it in to the obdII port.....that's it. WTF?

Dont you have to put it in a setup mode first to give it info on what sensors you want to read and in what increments? I cant see their gauge being faulty right off the bat.

It says in the instructions that it is supposed to enter setup upon first powering up. This did not happen, so I manually went to setup and configured it. Everytime you exit setup, it instantly powers off. Also, to change the settings (upper and lower) in scan mode, I have to flip through about 4 or 5 options before it powers off, then restart to scroll some more, then power off again. FRUSTRATING! Anyway, as far as scanning, this gauge has not done that yet at all. I shows NO values. I currently have it set at RPM and MPG, 2 settings that would surely show values for right off the bat. No dice. My gauge will not show ANYTHING! What sucks is that if I indeed have to return it for a refund or exchange, I already spent like an hour meticulously routing the wire through my interior (even drilled holes) for the cleanest install possible. I DO NOT want to remove all the zip ties and this wire, cause it would be a PITA. I just want my freakin gauge to work, which so far shows no signs of happening.

This should be a lesson to everyone. Make it work, THEN make it pretty.

Well, that's the thing. I plugged it in and made sure it worked before I went through all of the wire running and it came on and didn't have the shut off problem. So I unplugged it, and thought OK, tested it, now mount it. Apparently I should have run down the road, tried every option, and THEN mounted it. Anyway, it doesn't work at all now. Won't even come on when I start the car. I said it was a PITA to wire, but really I guess if I have to do it over, it won't take maybe 20 mins to redo. Anyway, thanks for making an example out of me. That still doesn't change the fact that the freakin gauge won't do squat. Hopefully, I can get this problem resolved. I am leaving right now to go to the track and that is the reason I am so distraught about the lack of workage. I really wanted it in and working for this fact. Oh well, you can't win them all. Should have just went with my gut and got the AEM UEGO I was looking at in the first place.

I don't understand, if you tested it and it worked, that means you set it up already. So it's not going to ask you to set it up again, it only does that the first time, every time after you have to go into the setup yourself.

Sorry dude, sounds user error.

My gauge works perfectly (shrug)

Well regardless what the case is (if it's my fault, I'm fine with that...) the gauge will not stay on or come on at all for that matter. The only way to get it to come on is press the button, then 5-10 seconds later, it powers back off. So what did I do wrong? And as far as setting it up, I went in (press both buttons at once) and manually set it up, then AS SOON as I exit the setup menu, BAMF! powers off. It will not come on with the car at all. I have tried to unplug then replug it in to no avail. Still powers off. Even for the 5-10 seconds it IS on it does not display any values at all. No numbers. So please let me know what I did wrong so I can fix it, because I have tried everything.

First thing would be to check the wiring, got a multimeter?

BTW after making a change to the setup the unit will power off and on again (assuming its working).

Well, it would be nice if it would EVER come on without me having to hit the buttons. Also, it will not stay on, even after that. Aeroforce has finally sent me an e-mail, so hopefully I can get a refund or at least get an exchange.

From our discussions it seems as though you received the wrong cable. We're sending another. There is a cable for CAN vehicles and one for non-
CAN. I think you have the non-CAN by mistake.
