Adjustable Mazda 2 Struts/Shocks

I had an idea for you guys (CS) this morning. Two spring sets to go with the adjustables. A low, firm, track-oriented spring and a higher (1 inch lower than stock), firm (only slightly lower rate than #1) spring for those of us that want to retain some ride height for daily driveability.

This would be similar to what Racecomp Engineering did for the subie crew. They had yellows (track) and black/regular guy springs that were just about the maximum rates that the STi struts would handle (I had both and they were both awesome). Only instead of making the springs for the inadequately valved OEM dampers they would be higher rates appropriate for your adjustable dampers.

We would need a commitment from 10 or so people before we could offer something like this. I like the idea.

Just look up my purchase orders in the past month or so... i would say i'm pretty much commited... you guys have been making awesome stuff... depends on the time frame though. I'm saving up for a suspension setup right now... i have a problem with holding onto money. But this is a good idea.. seems everybody wants the best of both worlds anyways... daily driving... racecar status... The idea is good enough to count me in... depends on price and details of course...

I can pretty much guarantee that would be my next suspension upgrade (adjustables with firm, not low springs), although right now the CS exhaust and intake stuff are next on my list. If I buy too much at once I think I'd be single again very quickly.

Single is good! More money for playtime!

disagree... cheaper to keep her.. lol.. thats why i havent just charged my setup... saving up for it like a good husband..

I have the same problem, they always get upset with the credit card gets used for something fun for the car.

Shocks are installed

I have an update on the struts and shocks. We have been driving on them over the past few weeks on the street and with some different tire combinations to see how they perform.

The car has the following parts with the notes below, H&R springs, CorkSport Adjustable Struts/Shocks, CorkSport Front swaybar and rear torsion bar. The wheels and tires are the stock parts with the OEM tires with about 2000 miles on them. The car does have a roll cage in and the vehicle weight with a full tank of gas and driver is 2360.

On the softest setting there is a noticeable decrease on rebound bounce compared to the stock dampers. There is a area with large speed bumps which we go over to look for suspension noises, etc and with the stock dampers you would get a slight bounce back up after the front of the 2 would come off the back side. With the new dampers the bounce is gone.

In the middle stiffness setting you can tell that the shocks are there, the front end responds to steering inputs faster and under really hard cornering you can feel the stock sized tires loading quicker.

On full stiff if feels like you can dodge bugs coming at you.

We upped the game a bit and installed a set of wheels with the BFG R1 slicks we use for B-Spec racing along with the same list of parts above.

With the stiffer sidewalls and the tire pressures we run (38 front and 43 rear) on the hardest setting it was firm and I mean really firm. I think I would really enjoy the feel of the highest dampening settings on the track with setup on the 2 and I could knock a few seconds out of my lap times. It is incredible in the difference.

On the medium settings the ride was still firm but not over the top.

On the lowest settings the car was enjoyable to drive and I would daily drive it except for the noise the slicks make in a stripped out car, lol.

You guys are going to love these.

So the next answer to the question coming up, when will we have these available? I should know more information on the production schedule now that we have given them a green light to go into production. Once we have that date nailed down we are thinking of letting people pre-order if enough of you are interested.

The springs we are working on are not ready and it will be several months after the dampers are released until I can give a date for them

Thanks for the update... I've been waiting for this. Any info on what your trying to achieve with your springs compared to the h&r springs? I honor your secrecy if I'm asking too early. Also.. how's the drop? Keep up the good work. Depending on release date and few more details... I am interested in preorder.

Crap. Another awesome part I need that I can't buy right away. You guys are killing me. If the soft setting is less jarring over bumps and road imperfections than stock then I may actually be able to get my wife's approval...I'll keep my fingers crossed.

What's the warranty situation going to be with these?

Also, where are the adjusters located?

In a general sense a good street spring with ~1.5 inch drop.

I will get the warranty information up as soon as I have it from our engineers.

The adjusters are located on the tops. On the front you have access to them with the hood open. With the rears they are accessible through the wheel well at the top of the shock. I can reach my hand in and adjust them with the H&R springs installed on the rears.

Sounds quick and easy, just how I like it.

So basically CS provides dampers/shocks and the springs are interchangeable? Sounds like they run awesome on the H&R spings. I like the drop of H&R but hate the stiffness reviews. with the CS adj. shocks, seems like this helps a lot. So are we able to buy/pair the shocks with h&r springs? or other springs for that matter? I guess i'm jumping the gun here.. just anxious to finally drop my monster truck of a car. What's the h&r drop on springs.. like 1.8 at least? Derrick gave the setup a pretty good review.. wonder how it will compare to the springs they are working on.

AWESOME! I've really been looking forward to these!

Mykflo - I have a set of H&Rs, and the drop is 1.5 front, 1.3 rear. I may go back to them when I get the CS adjustable shocks. On the H&Rs with stock dampers, I was getting the hell beat out of me in town. I've been on the Racing Beat springs for several months, and I totally love them. I don't love the ride height though. Now that the dampers will be out, moving to a lower spring is a possibility for those with concerns of ride quality (Wife no likey the harsh ride). Either way, these shocks are the best news for the 2 in a while!

Yeah I'll be in line for these too! I'm just thinking about these on medium setting, paired up with the camber bolts with nice camber setup, for an even more awesome daily
