AccessPORT & AccessTUNER Updates for MS3 and MS6

this may be a stupid question, i just got my ap today, and waiting to get atr, but: lc and ffs can only be used with atr correct?
and in atr can you edit the cobb made maps- so you can have the same cobb map but with lc and ffs?
 
I am waiting for my order to be processed so I can download ATR. At what RPM should I set the FFS rev limiter?

I am excited, because now that the AP lets me rev the engine so much higher, I have had difficulty flat foot shifting because I keep missing gears. Didn't ever have this problem shifting at 5500 RPM...

I have not been able to find anyone talking about where to set the FFS RPM though, so if someone could help me out please, as tomorrow I am expecting to add LC and FFS to the v104 map I downloaded.

I have seen this excerpt from the AccessTuner Tuning guide (below), but I guess I am wondering if anyone has used FFS yet or has any insight.


Limiter Tables
FFS Rev Limiter
Table Description This parameter represents the maximum engine RPM allowed while the Flat Foot
conditions are met. Flat foot conditions are active only when the vehicle speed has exceeded the Vehicle
Speed Limiter (deactivating Launch Control condition) AND when the clutch pedal is depressed. One
engine speed value that represent the Rev Limiter for Flat Foot Shifting (FFS). This limiter will be
imposed if the vehicle is moving and the clutch switch is activated. Fuel delivery is blocked and other
overrun parameters enabled to keep engine speeds below this set point.
Tuning Tips This value is used to allow the driver to keep the accelerate pedal at wide-open throttle
when performing up shifts. Thus, this value should be set lower than your normal Rev Limit value in an
effort to bring the engine RPM down to a suitable level for the gear change. This is only an enhancement
when up shifting (ie: drag racing, accelerating). You will likely want to test to see what limiter RPM
works best for this function.
Precautions and Warnings Increasing engine speed produces exponentially higher forces on the engine
components and oiling systems. Increasing allowable engine speeds may produce catastrophic engine failure.

To set your LC and FFS you need to do the following in the ATR (Tweeked if necessary)

FFS Limit: 5000 - RPM that your car will drop down too when FFS. This will require tweeking to get it just right.

LC Limit: 3000 - RPM that you will launch at.

Speed Limit: 5 to 12 - I set mine at 12 but have not tested though others have. What this means is that LC will remain active (holding your RPMs at a max of what you set them) until this speed is met. This will take some tweeking depending on car and mods. Too low a number and you will get serious spin. Too high and you will bog down.

Speed Hysteresis: 4 - This means that at max 155mph the car will stop making power until the speed goes down to 151mph. Not that important.

Don't touch the Normal Rev Limiter as this is what will protect you if you miss a gear or something. It's as the name implies. Its the normal rev limiter.

This should be all you need to do to get LC and FFS working. HOWEVER, on 2009's there seems to be an issue with FFS.

i lowered my normal rev limiter to 6500 for safety sake. i never rev that high anyway so i felt i should lower it for no better reason than i felt like it. lol

as far as the lc goes you def need to play with the speed limiter. i have mine on 10 mph right now and WOH MAN HOLY WHEEL SPIN BATMAN! with 1st gear boosted at 8psi and 2900rpm, dump the clutch and nothing but wheel spin. although, bravnik....i have to ask you a q via pm about the atr...
 
It appears there could be an issue with the FFS feature on the MS6 and also some models of the MS3. We are looking into these issues to see if we can identify the root cause. We will make an announcement once we are able to find the problem and offer a solution. Thank you for your patience and understand and for bringing these issues to our attention.
 
as far as the ffs...i always knew how to powershift but never knew about an option for the ecu to react with your power shift on any car. i read the avobe explaination but am not sure i totally understand it. when i ffs from 2nd to 3rd for example and my reg rev limiter is set at 6500 with my ffs set at lets say 4900....what does the engine do or is limited to do with this set-up? i know with a ffs your holding to accelerator down and pumping the clutch with a supersonic shift....but if the ffs number is to show the maximum eninge rpm allowed, i dont even dip to 4900...more like 5100 or so.

with that said if the ffs is set to 4900 does that mean my engines rpm wont be allowed to go below 4900 if ffs conditions are met?
 
Thanks for the input- I will try 3000 RPM LC, 4500-5000 FFS, 4 MPH Speed Hysterisis, and 10-12 MPH Speed Limit. I will probably post tonight or tomorrow with my experience, assuming I can download ATR today.

If I get the car up to 155 MPH, then slow down 4 MPH, how fast can I then go??? lol

This is were the tweaking will need to take place. In the FFS when you shift the FFS setting drops the RPMs down to the set point. However, if you set it too low from where you normally shift, then you get what will feel like a typical shift.

The numbers I listed are a starting point. You will need to play around with it. I typically shift at 5700 myself. I have a feeling that my FFS RPM will probably end up being like 5300 to 5500 but I have not tested it yet so I'm not positive on that.

Same goes for the LC. You will have to play with the settings on this to get the ultimate launch. Keeping in mind if you intend to go to a track you will want a bit of spin on regular asphalt as a drag strip is stickier than pavement.

The numbers I posted above are simply a good starting point. Each and every car/driver will be different and will need to be fine tuned I would think.

Well 155 is our speed limited limit if you will. So 155 :)

used these numbers it was a good start. i spin my tires like a bat out of hell at 3k

so basically, watch where you rpms go when you shift over let say 5 times and try to tweak your ffs numbers to roughly a little more than that rpm. then when you do ffs your rpm stays slightly higher than your reg ffs making your shift a better shift and a faster take off of that gear......question mark. haha.

Well I did go over an indicated 155 before so wtf... o well guess that is the sacrifice you make. I'll have to make due with 155.:)

and i thought it was funny i called cobb with a couple questions and i talked to some guy dan and he said, "i wasnt even aware that this came out for mazdaspeeds"

I put my FFS at 5000. If you let the engine rev higher than where you should be shifting at 5500-5750 you are putting too much strain on the transmission and motor.

All FFS is meant to do is keep your turbo spooled. If you put it higher than where you shift at why even have a limiter? Sure it feels faster but it is bad for the car. Put the limiter a little below where you would normally shift at if you are not FFS.

My advice and logic.... someone else might disagree and I might be wrong.
