AC stuck on?

Ok, I'm not too sure if it's stuck on, but I am getting awfully cold air coming out of the vents with the AC off in 80+ degree weather. It feels like the AC is still on.
Anyone else felt this? I also think I'm feeling the compressor kick in. I hope not, because I try to run the fan when I race and would lose a ton of power with the AC on.
Any thoughts?

one way to check for sure....start up the car...and look at the compressor....is the clutch engaged and the switch off? could be the stitch is stuck....try cycling the stitch while its running and see if it makes a difference....

when you cycle the switch does the light come on? the LED for the switch...if not...maybe its burnt out and you just THINK you have it off and really its on....

just shooting out ideas here.....anyway.....IF the switch is in fact off...and the compressor is still getting a signal to cycle....obviously something is amiss....its a good chance its the switch or the relay....first diconnect the swithc...which if the relay is hung it won't make a difference....then disconnect the high side of the relay...if that kills it...then you KNOW its the relay. IF that don't work...well then it could be the clutch on the compressor is hung up...but if that were true it wouldn't be cycling....

you could always do the checks on the switch and the relay with a volt/ohm meter too.

What setting do you have your vents on? From what I understand, the compressor is on for all settings except for the last two - front vents and front/bottom vents.

I'll try to answer everything here.
The light does go on and off. I'll try to test them tonight if I can. (I hate doing the work on warranty issues)
I usually run it on panel/floor setting. I like my feet to get air on them too.
I'll also check to see if I can hear the compressor running while parked. I noticed it last evening on the way to the movies. Didn't get a chance to look at it at 11PM.

good call gene...I forgot about that one....check the setting for the vents...IF someone turned it past the firs two....just the dash vents or dash and floor.....the compressor runs whether or not you have the A/C button on.....in mazda engineers infinate wisdome they didn't think the general public knew enough to know you might need to run it to dehumidify the air and clear a windshield of fog....DUH!!!

Are our vents open? If so, when you are driving, wind will blow past the compresser on the way in. I use this in the in the winter. I turn the temp to hot, and then open the vents with the air off. Warm air blows in cause the air is warmed going past the heater.

yeah but he said it was COLD air and it was like 80 outside....

Yeah, it was cold. Basically I was catching hell from the little lady because my "stupid car" was freezing her out. :) She's funny when she gets crabby.

aren't they all!! lol

and you COULD have turned the knob and warmed up the air....OR

you could have just told her to roll the window down and let in some hot air! lol

Ok, here we go again.
Today on the way to work I shut off the AC after running it about 10 minutes. About 5 seconds later, it starts puffing mist/smoke out the vent. Did it for about 2 minutes. I'm guessing this shouldn't be happening, am I right? It was maybe 70 this morning, that's why I shut it off. There shouldn't be that much moisture in the system, should there?

Chrysler had a problem with that awhile back on the LH body cars, i believe it was the thermistor causing the problem, usually when you get mist or "smoke" coming out of the vents the thermistor or orfice tube is usually the culprit. Have the dealer check it out.
