i have two questions, one being spawned by a previous thread...

the clapping. tic tic tic, etc from the motor another guy was asking about before (i'm sorry about all the problems, guy) - some level of this noise is normal right? i have a rapid ticking at idle and i just assumed that it was normal sound of moving parts, i.e pistons, etc. ; only can be audible when standing over motor...

...also has anyone seen a tsb for a "clicky" atx? "shifting" from 2nd to first coming to a stop...then when i actually come to a stop... and then when i am taking off from a stop, all having to do with first gear! it sounded acceptably "normal" when it was only once in a while, but now...

the mazda man said, "that kind of sound is normal... its one of the electronic parts engaging" or something to that effect... i don't buy it...

???

The rappid ticking you hear i think is the injectors pulsing but im not sure.

yeah, it sounds like something that would be normal... either the injectors or something else.... i did'nt think of that being a problem at all until that other dude brought it up...

but the clicking/popping of the tranny does worry me... i hope like hell that i am wrong by not trusting my dealer saying that its normal...

Ive herd that coming outa my tranny too mainly when i downshift into first or go into reverse. Ive had my 3 since my dealer had them....actually i bought the first one that my dealer had straight off the showroom floor. Its done that everysince ive had it and i really havnt had any problems with my tranny so i would guess that its normal but i could be wrong....oh yeah i have about 60,000 miles too. If anybody finds out that it is a problem and needs to be fixed then plz let us know.

your news of a healthy 60,000 miles with the same (seemingly benign) issue is encouraging.

do you have any mods (extra horse) that could be seen as a test of a stress thresh-hold for the linkages? i am deadly afraid that shaving a second off of my zero to 60 would also snap something...

i'm gonna go look for a tsb... hopefully i won't find one....
