I had plexiglass on the first floor i did, then i put something in the hatch, drove 2 blocks, opened the hatch and had a huge scratch in the glass. also with the plexiglass i think the amp would get to hot. I might try speaker mesh grill.
the grill was chrome and i painted it white to match the car, but now the more i look at it im not sure if i like it. I might go black or remove it. Idk
i love the new floor, it looks so much better then the 1st one i did with the fake leather vinyl and the 2 pieces. this one is 3 pieces and nice black carpet. someday i might have to try fiberglassing and make a custom box for the sub

dude, the floor looks great but you gotta match the sub carpet to the rest of it... that's the only thing that I can complain about. One thing you may want to look into is doing some kind of lexan cover for the amp rather than all out plexi. Lexan doesn't scratch as easily and you can get it thinner. In terms of keeping the amp cool you route out some vents in the lexan to help the heat escape. Excellent job overall though considering this is your first attempt at custom work!
thanks alot for the compliment. the sub box is getting recovered in a couple weeks. im going to have it done by a local shop, they only want $25 to do it since im providing the carpet. and i think im going to find something for the amp, maybe speaker grill mesh or something. ill looking around on the audio forums for the best solution. im very happy with the floor, its very simple and effective and it looks custom which looks good. no wires running everywhere, just simplicity.
