you live in Dayton, OH (sleep)
You come to south florida and then you tell me if you can afford a phreaking mobile home
If I come to south FL and do exactly what I do here...My money will increase in conjunction with the cost of living....Thats why its called the cost of living in a particualar area. I am just really good with money and I can usually turn a dime into a dollar...Its just how I work and survive.:)

I have expensive habits, but a lot of my money gets spent on the fact I live in the city. 10 miles outside of it and I would be sitting on a huge pile of money. I also have a toy problem, but its getting better... especially onsidering the toys I really want now are getting my fiancee here and a house. Both are expensive, but more important than all the frivolous toys like computers, TV's, more stereo eqipment, etc. Even though I make over $4700 a month, it seems that it never was able to stick around for long, until recently. Living alone does has a big impact on funds though.

and a much much better job

hell, I made $1200 in one day this year for regular work, though I had to work my tail off for 19 hours, and everything went perfectly. Its easy to work that long when it never gets freggin dark though. Where I was we were getting about 3 hours of twighlight around the peek of summer.

$100 a week at one point was my $5.50 minimum wage! I got in and haven't had that low a paycheck evAr.

Ghost never went to college or anything, but for guys, its easy to get into something technical without having a degree that will make you money. For women, depending on the career you're looking for, you need a degree to get better money. We tend to have more office or administrative jobs that require degrees in business.

My roomate had TS and he made like 40/hr as unarmed security guard

is that $4700 gross or net? before pre-tax investing? what other sorts of bills (cc, student loans, etc) do you have? what's the housing situation?

my advice would be to do this: write yourself a check every month for the expected amount of your payment and ins increase. if you can do that for 4 months w/out feeling stretched, go for it.

edit: after reading more, it sounds like you need to start keeping track of your spending; sounds like you're using "cali's expensive" as a fall-back. if you want to know where your money goes, write it down.

well this isnt what i make but what my dad makes doing general contracting.
since i worked at his office for awhile filing bills n s*** (when i was working there i was 15) he would bring in about 450,000 a year to his name. We live in the suburbs of chicago in a pretty normal middle class town.

And i drive a intaked p5 (poke)
Which is fair becuase he grew up working his ass off for what he wanted and wants to raise me the same

what do you if you don't mind me asking?

my dad makes that amount in less than two weeks....and he is still paying his bills steadily....Bigger house payments, retirement funds, stocks, so forth....bills are a part of life, you just have to accept that, every business man knows this whether his check is too much or to little...now if you were one of the enron executives and still had bills, then you have a problem...

In that case, I'd be happy with that amount (thumb) definitely.

I'm happy with the money i make, but i guess i just have to many bills. I get direct deposit every 1st of the month from corrections & military retirement! I have most of my bills electronic checking tooken out once i get paid" so yeah i do have track of it" but it just kills me to see it vanished day after day after day..! I mean i know i put myself in this position, but i guess making more money now then i ever did in the(NAVY) equals= more bills! My base pay was $2400 a month in 96 as AK1 Supply division at PO1/E-6@20 every 1st-15th i was getting like $900 with B.A.H!

Yeah the pay is so much better though now Since 99 i have been getting a 2%increase in pay monthly same goes for any other branch in the military! my son in law is also in the (NAVY) He's been in for 8yrs now as a AZ E5. his base pay is $2463 a month Alot better than i was as a E-5, i also take it youre in the ARMY guessing by your rate. (NAVY) ranks the fastest in all military division. Made E-5 in 3yrs and E-6 by 8yrs! depends though i was a AK (Supply Division) while now they changed it to SK! AM and AZ are hard to rank fast!

Nope ADAF. My rent is $1260 but I found a roomate. Most of the trans guys are deploed so much they got out of their lease and threw everything in storage and collect bah as well as their hazard duty.

Ahh.. youre In the Air force! that's probably even harder since my dad retired in air force, 20yrs as a Seargant=E-5

You plan on staying in or getting out? how many yrs have you put in!

I am in the army(deployed as we speak, but about to go home in about 40 days or so, which is why i get internet time now!!) but I dont plan on staying in. I have a lil less than 2 yrs left on my contract, I cant complain though..it hasnt been a bad experience, lots of things you get to see that most ppl wouldnt, but being that Im married with 2 kids, i really dont want to be deployed every 1 1/2 or so. The good thing about the military for me though was that i could pay off a lot of bills being that i dont pay for housing or medical. When I get back I plan on getting a 2nd part time and my wife will go back to working, which in turn I would hopefully be able to pocket about $3000-3500 a month after all the other bills.
