I have heard that 626 calipers are the best brake upgrade for my P5. I am curious, is this true or not and if so are they a direct bolt on or is an adapter needed?

only the 626 V6 front calipers - they are the "same" as the mazdaspeed protege front calipers. for the rears, only the mazdaspeed protege brakes are an upgrade - the 626 V6 rears won't transfer over.

for the best price, go to ken at protege garage.

whats the difference between the 626 calipers and msp front calipers?

the msp calipers have a silver coating on them, and the 626 caliper don't

Good info here, i'm looking to upgrade my brakes as well. First off, anyone running the stainless steel brake lines off protegegarage? Hows the pedal feel?

the goodridge lines are excellent, provide a very firm feel. if you have any brake questions drop me a line.

does anyone know what rear disc setup would fit the rear of a 02 protege dx (4 hole) hub? I was thinking about the rear setup on the 99 mercury cougar. It is 4/100 pattern as well.

Not true. The Cougar, contour and Mystique all use the 4x108 (the same as the 79-93 4 bolt mustangs)
