$350/mo for a 03 LX?! (Insurance)

So I went and bought my first car today an '03 Protege LS, I'm waiting to take delivery when I get an insurance policy. I planned on buying one online while at the dealership (Munday Mazda in Houston) from esurance.com. They quoted me $227 a month for a six month policy but when I went to buy the ploicy it somehow jumped over $700 to $348/mo. So My car is washed/waxed/filled up waiting at the dealer untill I bring proof of insurance. This sucks. :wtf: :mad:

first of all, how old arre you?
do you have previous insurance that you could just roll over?
if not................
if you live with your parents, add it to their policy.
if someone cosigned, try to add it to their policy (as co-owner).
just a few ideas................or keep looking

I am 23, 1 speeding ticket 3 years ago, and I pay $94 per month.
I also own a house and have it on the policy, but it wasn't much more before that.

I thought I was paying too much but I guess not.

29, no points, no wrecks, $506/6 months on an MP3. You're getting screwed. Look somewhere else. I use American Family insurance, and they are pretty good. Try them out.

Yep. Kooldino and myself live in New Jersey, land of the worst insurance rates. I pay 228/month for my protege Es..no accidents, tix..nothing. under 24 though. so its high.

Insurance comparisons again? You guys live in different states with different coverages and a lot of other variables. Your rates really can't be compared equally. Insurance companies post their base rates with the state regulatory agencies which can usually be viewed on the state insurance website. Check the site and you should find posted examples of base rates for several differnt drivers with specific coverage for all carriers in the state. Start there.
