$24,910 for ms3 GT

Ok did you not read the whole thing ?

You can go in and get pricing that is $2000 under without being a jerk.

By going in and being honest about you price shopping can be done without having a nasty chip on your shoulder Scott, that was the point.

Not only do you save the money you want, in the end if you need anything for the car you can go back and have a helpful salesguy.

You won't end up buying the car with that guy that jerks you around because within the first 5 minutes of you telling him that your shopping him (even said nicely they will show there colors real quick) he will begin to jerk you around and you can rule him, his price, and his dealership out !!

The point was, that by going in and being nasty gets you no where.

Being honest with the salesperson and getting different prices is the only way to go. Do yourself and the salesguy a favor TELL THEM your shopping them because they are going to do what they can do beat the price for a nice customer, they aren't going to do anything for a guy/girl that has a chip on their shoulder. You get alot farther in any business that way.

Get it now ?

I understand. I never went to a dealer until I picked up my car. Did all the dealing over the phone and through e-mail. I knew I was going to get a Speed 3 even without test driving. But sometimes you have to be tough to get what you want. There may be a fine line between being a jerk and being a tough sale. I told them that I was going to buy a MS3 the only question was who was going to sell it to me. Everytime I talked to the various dealers the price went down. Sometimes they would call me back imediatly after I refused their offers with another better offer. I'm sure I pissed someone off because I spent a week pitting 3 dealers against each other. In the end I drove 7 hours round trip to get what I wanted at the price I wanted. I understand that the salesmans job isn't easy in these times but I only dealt with the internet sales department guys. I took up no time from other salesman.

Internet guys are salesman hate to break it to you. Most make the same commission and same pay scale. NYS has 90% of internet departments are call centers so you are lucky to be out of state.

There is a fine line if you told them point blank that you were shopping and than did just that, that does not make you a jerk. It also doesn't make you a tough sale, it makes you a customer who is shopping. Tough sales are the people with that bad experience and are putting you through hell for it.

I was using examples so you could see what kind of people do get ripped off. I wasn't saying to bend over and get ripped off because it was the right thing to do.

I love my fiance but he went bought that Volkswagon that we are now selling, he got ripped off. He went in didn't need my help at all so I kept my trap shut. He was such a jerk I was ready to tell the guy to over charge him, I said not a word though, and guess what happened ? He got jerked lol.
He went in with his nasty attitude and his I know what I am doing cocky attitude and gave this guy such a hard time. Tell you one thing he learned his lesson and now he is stuck with a car that isn't worth what he owes on it. He didn't learn that lesson until he tried selling it though.

So let me get this straight, you went with him to buy a car and he refused your help and you watched him get the shaft and felt it was better to have him taught a lesson? And he is still going to marry you? You really must be in the car sales business!

No matter how b****y my girl may be there is a point when the foot has to be put down and enough is enough. Dealerships want to sell cars, these are Mazdas not ferraris, they will move and they do not command a premium. It does a dealer no justice to have that car sit on their lot and jerk people around with pricing.

Even if the dealer sells the car at invoice, there is plenty hold back in the unit to keep the bills paid at the dealership. Buying a car is not that hard, it just depends on your credit and financial status.

As far as the price of the car at the beginning of this thread, 24,910 would be a fair price OTD on a GT. If you did not get that price I would walk.

I offered to help him, and he said no no no that he knew what he was doing. Now that he is trying to sell it he suddenly realizes that maybe I was right. Besides his money is his, mine is mine. He doesn't say anything when I go out and spend on my own things that I may not need, so there is a point where if he says he doesn't want my help I say ok.

Again I never said the dealer didn't make money, I said the salesperson doesn't make $$$.

I said to price shop against the dealers and tell them point blank you were going to do it, and the salesperson who wants to earn your business will.

naw, 24910 is the sale price... i've been reading a lot and the other thread of what people said they paid and i realize that i don't have to settle for a little under msrp and i can get close to invoice... knowing this i may shoot for the sport just so i can get it much cheaper...

and to make sure i'm on the right track OTD door means tax and what not, the amount you finance correct?

Yes OTD price is what you would have to pay to drive the car off the lot with 0 trade in , down payment , etc.

i think anything 25 and under is a good price...23k for invoice + 2k for taxes and dealer fees...and i think the best way to deal is with internet sales they know you are more informed and getting quotes from others so some will give you a bottom line price you cant refuse
