2018 CX-9 GT AWD, tires needed at 25K (replaced w/ Michelin Defender LTX M/S)

I went through a set of Defenders on my 2014 CX-9. They were definitely better than the OE Bridgestones, but once I replaced them with the Continental TerrainContact H/T I didn’t look back. The Contis are available in 255/50R20 109H - I recommend them without reservation.

My Michelin saga continues.

While getting my tires rotated and balanced, I was told there was cracking and dry rot on the tires' shoulder (where the tread meets the sidewall). Given that I was within the 6 year / 70K manufactor's warranty, Michelin offered to pay for 60% of a new set.

The Defender LTX M/S is discontinued. The new version was not available in my size. I had the option of the Defender2 and the CrossClimate2. I opted for the Defender2 despite the lack of M+S rating mostly for the longer warranty (80K vs teh CC2's 60K).

Decided to purchase and install at Costco as I've been impressed with their road-hazard and after-sales service.

It's worth mentioning that I tried to work with two seperate Mavis dealers on the dry rot issue and they refused to phone Michelin about the warranty; one of their reps said, "I have better things to do". Classy...
