2018 CX-5 Oil Dip stick reading issues

You're probably bottoming on a baffle in the pan or the oil level/temp sensor mounted to the underside of the pan (if so equipped).
Not too sure…. The straw that’s on the oil extractor is very small and thin, so I don’t see how the dipstick can get down to the oil but the straw can’t.

It’s not the end of the world because you have to get the filter out underneath the car anyways, but the extractor is just so much cleaner than using a drain pan

Hayden I had a quality extractor myself some time back with the same issue. It require a lot of negative pressure to work and could barely lift 10W30 oil 18 inches. The problem I surmised that air was getting in the pickup end of the straw with the oil. Mine created vacuum via a hand pump. I later cleaned it thoroughly and put it in my yard sale - some things just aren't as advertised.

I use the oil extractor to do the oil change on my GTI without any issues. That’s why it doesn’t make any sense to me.

Anybody have issues reading the oil dipstick on the CX5's?

My issue is I pull the dipstick out, wipe it down with a paper towel, re-insert the dipstick and pull to read. The dipstick has oil ALL over it, basically from top to bottom.
Almost as if the sleeve the dipstick slides into is coated in oil, therefore making it very difficult for me to get a reading on it at all.

We got the orange oil light a few days ago indicating the oil is around/below the MIN level. I poured 200ML of oil into the car to top it up but now I cannot get an accurate reading on this thing.

I have tried checking the oil while the engine is 10 hours cold, tried driving and warming it up then checking, same results.

Not the end of the world as I will change the oil in about 2000 KM but I would love to be able to get a reading of the oil........ Another issue I am having is I use an oil extractor to change the oil on my other cars but I cannot get a drop of oil to come out of the CX5. Has anybody had success using an extractor on their cx5? Almost as if my straw is too short?
Not really sure it relates to your issue or where to post this but yesterday I was curious whether the dipsticks on my 2.0 sky 3 Sport were, after seeing numerous posts on dipsticks and capacity, the same length as my 2.5 sky CX-5. Turns out they were different and just for the hell of it here’s a picture. More interesting came after I checked the oil in the CX-5. When I inserted the stick I pushed it down and when it, what I thought, bottomed out I hauled it out and checked the oil. It showed ⅓ low between the marks. I thought this was weird since 200 km ago it was full. Again I inserted it until it felt resistance but this time I pushed a little harder and it went past the o-ring to its correct location. This time it was full at the top of the marks. Perhaps it was the cold o-ring and perhaps it was my being cold, -8 degrees C and windy but here are a couple comparison pictures. Strange thing is this is the first time I experienced this on either of the cars. Oil is M1 0w20 with 2500 km on it with 122,000km on the engine and the 4.73 L Jug put it to the top mark back in Oct when it was changed..
